The media coverage of this stuff is getting hilariously dry ("unsurprisingly, speculation from various quarters regarding a reunion tour has intensified"). The fans are... well, the fans do care. XD But after the hysteria of the last one, yr avg member of the massive perhaps realized that the most productive course of action qua fan is to play it cool and not act like it's a big deal if they want to turn up at each other's gigs. I mean, it isn't a big deal! Or it shouldn't be. Ideally it would happen every other week so that even NME Online will grow tired of running the item and we can all go back to devising elaborate AU fanfiction. XD They should even record that long-promised Christmas single and please [livejournal.com profile] poptimists by failing to chart higher than #37, there's all stakeholders on my flist taken care of then.

Okay in all seriousness it is rilly heartwarming. Weird, because watching Pete and Carl doing their ever-decreasing circles act over the course of 2-3 years is kind of like observing those mice experiments where they take out a bit of their brain so that no matter how often they press the pedal they always forget it brings an electric shock and not pellets. ...But heartwarming.

Come to think of it I guess if, say, Damon Albarn and Graham Coxon turned up at each other's gigs it would be a big deal. Hmm. OTOH if that happened I bet management would bring up an extra mic stand instead of hiding them.

I was seriously thinking of writing a proper fandom primer ("What Wikipedia Doesn't Tell You") but then I realized it needed a relationship chart, so I drew a relationship chart - or the first draft of one. XD; When I finish it I'll scan it in, it's kind of epic... One RL benefit of this fandom is that I'm now way more media literate than I used to be. I.e. it's not like I lacked media literacy before, but now I spot the BS and attribution errors a mile away, to the detriment of my faith in humanity. The downside is that brain cells spent on tracking Kate Moss's love life could definitely be devoted to some higher purpose instead.

Here's a question: is 8tracks not supposed to play tracks in the order in which they're placed? Because they've always done so for me, insofar as I know. ^^;

/ignoring libs content, terribly rude of me

Whether 8T plays your tracks in order or out depends on 8T's own discretion. Like most people I construct playlists minding chemistry of song ends/beginnings, so unnecessary whimsical crapfest ticks me off to no end.

Not a Win vs. Mac thing by any chance? I saw they had an item for it in the feedback box but uh, no implementation timeline. ^^;

Could be it, could be it.

No wonder my laptop plays it straight. Now I am, irrationally, even angrier.

You're my fandom heroine, seriously. I want to see this flow chart, and hope there are many arrows pointing from Peter towards Carl, and little hearts about them...

As for them, it's heartwarming on a personal note, in a two-people-who-were-very-close-and-then-weren't-finally-getting-their-act-together kind of way, or at least I find it so; it makes me happy that they're getting over all the bad blood because you get the feeling they kind of need it. But beyond that I don't care much as to either the fandom or the media's reaction (save for the Guardian, who are always snarky - when they pick up on things, anyhow); it's like watching too many reruns of the same X-Files episode. After a while all the bad science starts to hurt too much for me to forgive the writers.

I think my arrow there says "ex-bandmates or something like that". XD But have decided to delineate the boundaries of bands and ex-bands in a different manner, so will have to do something else with it.

I've not been around long enough (or possibly, came in too late) that I don't still find the media/structural fandom dynamics interesting. ^^; Have also had to normalize a lot in a short time - six months ago I was still horrified at discovering the non-boundaries of latter-day celebrity "reporting". Suppose it was time I rejoined the 21st century or whatever.

Anywayz I hope it does them some good. Frankly I find it heartwarming that they're on speaking terms at all. XD;;

...You know, I don't think that mouse analogy is right. Maybe on Peter's side, but with Carl I feel like it's something closer to willfully-ignoring-the-lows-in-order-to-experience-the-highs. I mean, if you're going to be miserable all the time anyway, maybe it's worth suffering through a little bit of emotional abuse to sometimes be happy.

Hahaha I know I was making fun of your peerless positivity but the photos cropping up this week of Carl have been terribly perky. XD

So does that prove my point or not? Whaddaya think?

I was listening to this song (http://sd.magatsu.net/journal/Jayhawks%20-%20Eyes%20of%20Sarahjane.mp3) when I came up with that theory. You should feel free to ignore my obsession though.

The point is muddled due to standing next to ex-gf at time (this is devolving into gossip tho). XD It seems to work? I guess?

It is either coolly raised eyebrow or teary bawling, the reason interviewers are always so edgy is that there is NO MIDDLE STEP. XD;

Hi! This is completely random and outdated and the result of me clicking ten degrees of separation links from a libs comm, but did you ever make that flow chart?

I did, actually! Although it's not complete - DPT announced their breakup circa that time, so I had to change that, and then it started to get into all these other people at the corners and I ran out of steam halfway through detailing the Suede/Elastica/Blur triangle. And it's just pencils. But it's mostly there. XD;

No, it's not scanned in. I always meant to do it, but... well. XD
