The Redhead Kelly

In the city made out of the water buffalo's horns
Long red-haired Kelly
Knows the fate of the burnt forest
In the empty brooch with the rusty pin
Written only as on a stone that came from the moon
What spreads before the place
Where sun and road meld together
Is the frozen sea
What that girl draws are the fish that live there
Seahorses and the wailing of seals
Long red-haired Kelly...
What that girl draws are the fish that live at the bottom
Seahorses and the wailing of seals
Kelly's red hair floats in the west wind
Painting the lake, adorned with moonstones
In the car with no blinkers on
A lambskin blanket
Rolled up by itself
What that girl draws is the snow that falls in the desert
Wavering light, oasis ice
Long red-haired Kelly...
What that girl draws is the snow that falls in the desert
Wavering light, oasis ice
Sabina: Ah, tatsu no otoshigo is an actual word. XD

Date: 2005-07-03 02:17 am (UTC)According to Dictionary.com, last resort in unresolved cases, blinkers, blinders and winkers can all be used to refer to a horse's eyepatches, but 'blinker' is the only one that doubles as those turn signal lights.
So incestuous, the English language. XD I suppose you can't blame the Japanese for getting confused.

Date: 2005-07-04 08:12 am (UTC)PS: I normally refer to the turning lights as 'indicators', but I've heard plenty of other terms for it as well. ^^

Date: 2005-07-03 12:33 am (UTC)i remember watching the Blue Spring dvd and they subtitled (in english) the song lyrics, except they were really... wacky and kind of incomprehensible. ~_~;

♥
Btw, I've realized that this song is actually completely fitting for Schuldig; you just have to poke beneath the surface a bit. For it is devious and deceptive, just like Schuldig, and has a surface that's loud and eye-catching and says in bright red letters 'I AM THIS ONE THING', but that's really just a cover for all the other things it/he can be!
For instance, take 'car with no blinkers on'; maybe they did mean those horse eyepatches -- just, y'know, for cars, because cars are cooler and more Schuldig-y. And the reference to Schuldig can't be missed, of course, because isn't he a person with no blinkers/winkers/blinders on? Can't filter out the thoughts of others, can't shy away from the light.
And when you consider 'the frozen sea' in conjunction with water symbolism, in which water can indicate both sex and unconsciousness, darkness and death, it's CRYSTAL CLEAR that this is an allusion to Crawford, who's frigid in bed and is protected by impermeable mental shields (at least, that's what fic says, which means it's practically canon), and yet Schuldig's magnetism draws out the latent unformed squirmy feelings that live deep deep down at the bottom of his soul!
Crawford is, in fact, the snow that falls in the desert of Schuldig's life, cold and cutting and fatal under the proper circumstances, an unwelcoming image to most, but as it lands in the desert it melts, becoming something life-giving and essential, reviving the parched land that had forgotten how it felt not to thirst. Separately, they're harmful and damaging; together, they compensate for each others' shortcomings.
It's so perfect, Sabina. *_*
I'm sure that if I work hard enough, I can figure out how moonstone is a sly indicator of murder and mayhem, or, alternatively, really sweaty sex. *gets crackin'*

Date: 2005-07-03 03:43 am (UTC)The Moonstone was the name of a 19th century murder/mystery novel. So there you go ^_^

Date: 2005-07-03 08:54 am (UTC)But the Moonstone reference is undoubtedly preferable. XD THINK OF WHAT YOU HAVE SAVED THE WORLD FROM.
In other words, thank you! :D
