Post on GB23 got eaten, not by lj but by the power failure workplace suffered at 5PM today. >_> Of course there were all of ten people in the office, it being the three slack days between Christmas and New Year's long weekends and 5PM at that, so all of us got up, put on our coats and toddled without giving it a second thought... No comments of particular import, given that I haven't had time to do more than flip, but of the chapters I haven't seen the Himiko bits are especially interesting - to me - in a ficcish sense. Or perhaps that's because the last stories I read were [livejournal.com profile] incandescens's? She writes excellent transporters fic, where the characters are so close to what they are in my head that I can't tell the difference - which I suppose colours my judgment. XD Himiko and Akabane meeting pre-series, Clayman x Himiko, Akabane x Kagami PWP. Apart from the fact that she can write Akabane, and I can't really. ^^; I've been choking on his assigned drabble for two months, just for lack of anything to say that would be newly insightful. (On some level I do attempt to be innovative when I write fic, because I find no point in reinventing the wheel - Pierre Menard wasn't a lazy bum like me. XD)

Speaking of which, I think I'm going to post the origfic thing I was writing for NaNo. This because it's an attempted novel, and thus a great chunk of the competencies I've developed in short story writing are for naught; I'll have to do a few more of these before I consider myself publishable. (And anyhow I have to fob something off on my granny, and first publication rights or any such isn't really an issue in mainland China XD;;;). And, y'know, if people read it I might be more inclined to finish it. ...That's if people do read it, though, which is always iffy with origfic. *g*

EDIT -- Just remembered the other reason I didn't want to post it publically, which is that it's kind of embarrassing. NaNo = braindump, as we well know, so it's got bits of Kushiel's Dart and Five Star Stories and Vaguely Pan-Asian Crap (tm) and bards and panthers and completely-made-up literary classics and really bad sci-fi and schtuff. (And no canon ghei, because - because in all seriousness it's a lot harder for me to write m/m than it is for me to write gen, and I was pressed for time.) So yeah, comment and I'll put you on the filter or something. I already have a NaNo filter, though I think it dates from like 2002. ^^;

So yes, had a brief flip through the manga today while waiting for T. It turns out that the reason I don't remember much from the freetalk thingies is that there really aren't all that many of them - what you mostly get at the end of Tenipuri chapters are gag panels (some of which, I suspect, made their way into the anime). There's Seigaku Q&A, Hyotei Q&A, Chibi Mizuki and Butsubutsu!Shinji teaching tennis court etiquette (...don't ask...), the usual popularity/chocolate rankings, the "classmates" contest which I thought was rather brill - albeit a nightmare if you want to introduce random named extras to your fic and are the anal type. (Apparently Kimeru sent in a postcard to be in Momo's class, but they didn't let him win. XD;;;) There's also Konomi talking about the usual schtuff like anime and fanbook info and hanging with the seiyuu at recording sessions - dunno, after Ayamine's let-it-all-hang-out displays of spastic dorkdom everyone else seems a bit corporate in their freetalks. ^^; The one part that amused me awfully was when he talked about guesting at an official Jump convention event of some kind, and getting recognised by a group of fangirls while sitting in the lobby. So then he was like, "I'll be wandering around the floor next time too, watch for me~~" ...And in the next freetalk had to apologise for not, in fact, being around, as security apparently was like, "Will the mangaka guests of honour please refrain from mixing with the crowd, as we are not insured against you being torn apart by rabid fangirls. Not to specifically single anyone out here BUT WE'RE LOOKING AT YOU MR. TENNIS GUY."
