Post on GB23 got eaten, not by lj but by the power failure workplace suffered at 5PM today. >_> Of course there were all of ten people in the office, it being the three slack days between Christmas and New Year's long weekends and 5PM at that, so all of us got up, put on our coats and toddled without giving it a second thought... No comments of particular import, given that I haven't had time to do more than flip, but of the chapters I haven't seen the Himiko bits are especially interesting - to me - in a ficcish sense. Or perhaps that's because the last stories I read were [livejournal.com profile] incandescens's? She writes excellent transporters fic, where the characters are so close to what they are in my head that I can't tell the difference - which I suppose colours my judgment. XD Himiko and Akabane meeting pre-series, Clayman x Himiko, Akabane x Kagami PWP. Apart from the fact that she can write Akabane, and I can't really. ^^; I've been choking on his assigned drabble for two months, just for lack of anything to say that would be newly insightful. (On some level I do attempt to be innovative when I write fic, because I find no point in reinventing the wheel - Pierre Menard wasn't a lazy bum like me. XD)

Speaking of which, I think I'm going to post the origfic thing I was writing for NaNo. This because it's an attempted novel, and thus a great chunk of the competencies I've developed in short story writing are for naught; I'll have to do a few more of these before I consider myself publishable. (And anyhow I have to fob something off on my granny, and first publication rights or any such isn't really an issue in mainland China XD;;;). And, y'know, if people read it I might be more inclined to finish it. ...That's if people do read it, though, which is always iffy with origfic. *g*

EDIT -- Just remembered the other reason I didn't want to post it publically, which is that it's kind of embarrassing. NaNo = braindump, as we well know, so it's got bits of Kushiel's Dart and Five Star Stories and Vaguely Pan-Asian Crap (tm) and bards and panthers and completely-made-up literary classics and really bad sci-fi and schtuff. (And no canon ghei, because - because in all seriousness it's a lot harder for me to write m/m than it is for me to write gen, and I was pressed for time.) So yeah, comment and I'll put you on the filter or something. I already have a NaNo filter, though I think it dates from like 2002. ^^;

Don't be silly. I've said I'd read what you wrote if you said it was going to be about the phonebook, and I doubt I'm the only one. Post away. Might be nice to see you write something so long you have to explain your elegant obscurities for once, too.

Okay, then! I think you're probably on said filter already, because it feels like this is the fourth or fifth time I've asked the flist if they'd like to read the thing. ^^; My memory sucks.

Goodness knows it rare enough to find people writing Pan-Asian crap. :P And I would read anything you wrote. ^_^

Seconding that phonebook comment. Should you not mind adding strangers, I would like to read it also. ^^

Seconding the comment about pan-Asian crap, if you don't mind random strangers? (I don't think I'm that creepy. No, really.)

Thank you very much. (I should point out that reading your notes and translations and so on was part of what got me intrigued by GetBackers in the first place, so you really have nobody but yourself to blame.)

Oh, and guess who now owns GetBackers vols 1 and 2 in French? Happy smile. Happy happy smile.

I'm happiest about getting you into it. :D I was late into the series, compared to the flist, so there weren't too many people who needed sl0ring. XD

(Translations of vol.23 to come, so.)

...And guess who overran her credit card limit by 30$ due to Christmas and is on fandom-spending moratorium? ^^; Rueful smile. Rueful rueful smile.

I have other friends who I'm working on. The more, the merrier.

I look forward with enthusiasm to translations of chapter 23. The Akabane scenes! The Himiko fight scenes! (And she _has_ come on since her first appearance in volume 2, hasn't she? Not just in terms of art, but in terms of character.)

I quite appreciate the whole situation of overrunning one's credit card. Not that I've gone quite that far, but -- let's just say I've decided to be abstemious for at least a week or two after my latest pile of French manga.
