I cancelled the Ottawa trip but T/H took a day trip to Montreal and came over, and the next day we went to the West Island Eco-Museum with J/O and my parents. It was fun enough but I feel like these outings don't offer much in the way of adult friend catch-up time for J and me, let alone that I used to pay attention to O (and H for that matter!) and now all my energy revolves around Alan. Something for me to adjust to, and around.

It's a transitional week. We're now into the dog days, but Alan can drink a few mouthfuls of water from a sippy cup, and sit in the stroller at the vertical setting, which he seems to like better. We're able to roll for 1.5 hours and get the shopping done, as long as we're out early enough in the day that it's not unbearable. He's decided this week to eat animal protein, though I'm afraid it's because I've been giving him stuff seasoned for me. T-bone steak, Moroccan chicken, lemon cod. XD; But also, cooked yam and couscous and summer fruits. I bought a silicon bowl and spoon for him with a "puree stick" end, which is a lot easier to mash with, and Alan feels more in control of the feeding process with it: he can grab the "stick" and suck it to get at the food. Thus he's eating portions of, oh, 2-3 tablespoonfuls per meal. By the time he eats enough to make it worthwhile to batch make and freeze baby foods, I suspect he won't need baby foods.

So far no eczema relapse, beyond the stubborn bit on his arm, but I'm keeping a food diary for him, as I am for myself.

He really does need complementary foods three times a day now or he nurses forever; but the neighbours have returned from Japan and taken their loans back, including the Peg Perego and the BabyBjorn, so there's nowhere for him to sit and eat and make a mess. I'll have to buy a high chair this week (not a booster). He can't sit without support, still, although he's getting there. I feel like he doesn't work on sitting much because he doesn't see the point of it. When one holds him on one's lap he always tries to stand on one's thighs. I've transitioned him to the activity gym that has the baby sitting in the middle with their legs hanging down, except Alan is so tall that he just stands up in it.

you're so so good about feeding Alan actual food. Jake wasn't interested and I didn't push as a function of pure unadulterated laziness, b-feeding was so much easier at that point. I bet Alan will skip right through the ridiculous pizza pasta only stage and will eat actual food instead.

Also, we had this https://www.amazon.ca/Boon-Flair-Pedestal-Chair-Green/dp/B00BNUVKSW. Which yes is an investment, but the redeeming factors are (a) no other chair is that easy to clean and (b) at the end I ended up selling it on kijiji for literally most of its price. the actual cost to me was like $60 or something, because I originally found it at a decent sale price.
