I never understood the appeal of ill-thought-out 140-character rants, but today I came extremely close to tweeting something along the general lines of FUCK THE CLOUD. FUCK THE CLOUD IN ITS ASS.
I mean, forget my bookmarks. I can export my bookmarks. But I use that shit to SURF FIC, DUDE.

Date: 2010-12-16 11:46 pm (UTC)Basically, any tag or metadata structure you've seen in LJ fic comms, it's being used in delicious to some extent. What really makes me rage here is that delicious is being used as the sole archival structure on a number of fic memes, since LJ tags obviously don't work for those, and without it they'll be unnavigable.
Well, first world problems and all that.

Date: 2010-12-17 12:01 am (UTC)There's also the ad hoc "Digg" aspect, whereby number of delicious bookmarks is indicator of quality/popularity (though snowball effect skews it hugely).
I have heard Diigo, which is over-featured IMO, and pinboard.in, which is paid, and xmarks, if you don't care about crowdsourcing (but crowdsourcing is where all the added value is, even in fandom).
...Maybe Yahoo will listen to the outrage of the entire tech blogosphere and backtrack. Though considering they apparently fired the entire Delicious team, not likely. = =+

Date: 2010-12-17 07:42 am (UTC)I used frequently browse :
http://www.delicious.com/tag/crossover <- anyone who has tagged something crossover publicly will show up there.
http://www.delicious.com/tag/crossover+naruto <- anyone who has tagged something so that it has naruto and separately crossover, publicly will show up there.
It's also easy to go through the networks of other people and have a look at what their watching to see if there is anything of interest to you.
;.; No other bookmarking site I've seen is as comfortable to browse socially (although this may be biased) nor do they have the same userbase that has made delicious so awesome over the years.
Downloading/importing the bookmarks is easy - it's just... Social networking. ;.;
