I bought, of all things, a Kira Plastinina jumper in Winners yesterday - liquidated US inventory working its way through the pipes. I'm probably going to return it as it's a bit too large and sheds, and I hate knits that do that, but it's actually quite nice otherwise: a green-and-black striped long-sleeve knit dress that's felted on the outside, so it looks more like a coat than a knit.

(Kira Plastinina, if you do not follow TEH ANNALS OF FAST FASHION, is sort of like the Russian oligarchic Forever 21. Speaking of which, the Forever 21 downtown finally opened, and I'm not impressed. XD Most of the clothes seem cheaper and flimsier than the local chains, let alone downmarket from effing H&M for cripes' sake, although to be fair they also seem to cost less on average.

One day I will make a post about the music one hears while shopping for clothes.)

When I was in Tokyo last April I got off the Yamanote line at Harajuku and was immediately confronted with the tail end of a line of mainly young women, standing in pairs. I actually assumed it was the line for the official Johnny's store, which usually takes up that particular stretch of sidewalk, but rather than leading to the Johnny's store entrance it kept going and going and going down Omotesando until it eventually turned a corner, continued a couple blocks more and - stopped at the brand new Forever 21. ^^;

At roughly the same time, a branch opened up here in Anchorage. (Without the queueing, I hasten to add.) I feel part of the world scene now - Tokyo, Montreal, Anchorage... XD

I don't know if there was a line-up on F21 opening day itself as I wasn't there (supposedly it was a "soft" opening, though). XD; There was a line at the cash registers today, but it didn't seem anywhere as insane as Zara gets - I've basically stopped shopping at Zara because it's too chaotic.

hahaha, Forever 21--if you saw my tweet about a discouraging Mall of America trip last weekend, that was largely what it was about, or more to the point For Love 21 being completely devoid of plastic headbands with teeth and full of gaudy bejeweled crap straight out of the early 1980s.

... 90% of my wardrobe is F21. >.>;;  AND THEY HAVE A PLUS SIZE LINE NOW, THAT'S BETTER THAN ALL THOSE HIGHER QUALITY BRANDS CAN SAY.  I. guess.

Kira is that teenager, right?  I learn things from Project Rungay!  And I only know what Winners is because of PRCanada, though I didn't realize they had stores in the US. ^^;;

I only saw that lining up situation for a Uniqlo... not sure where it was, but I gotta say I was pretty underwhelmed.  Also they weren't carrying the JoJo shirts, bitter tears.

And there was this period when both Express and F21 had mystery jets ft laura marling - if i only knew your name or whatever on their playlists at the same time!  THAT WAS WEIRD.
