(Bad music)

Actually, I know what it is. It's a reaction against the fact that I've spent the last week being tempted to drop 9.50$CAN on this month's edition of Musik for the bonus CD. Heck, for the New Order remix, when you get down to it. I suspect I'd like the rest of the CD as well, but I'm never quite certain because... well, because British music mags tend to describe bands like this: "Starsailor's great; they're the new Coldplay. What's Coldplay? Well, they're the new Travis. Travis is the new Radiohead. Radiohead..." and by the fourth or fifth recursion with no base case in sight, my brain chokes from a stack overflow. (And, y'know, it occurs to me just now that I named all these bands off the top of my head because they've *played* here. Recently. Is that normal for North America? Or is it one of those "special" things about Montreal again, like the big hit single of summer '99 being French/Senegalese reggae, and the fact that we've apparently never gotten over Supertramp?)

Boy, that was random and non-ficlog-worthy.

...ahh, see, that's why it's best to read the NME. Because in between the The Hives are the new Strokes are the new At The Drive In are the new ...Trail Of Dead are the new Sonic Youth, you get random moments of actual music commentary. In the form of snide indier-than-thou bitching, but.

(I know a couple of those. They played here too. o_O;) I don't think they actually *have* the NME. Not at Archambault, anyway. Oh, I know what it is, because of the kind of CDs I tend to poke through, but... maybe I'll try at Indigo, or Maison de la Presse or something.

Thanks for the heads-up. ^_^ Mayhap I should come to England for a while. I've no idea what I'll be doing with my life come July, and it's got to be better than going to the States and listening to American radio.

I guess it's easier to get the magazines than the newspaper. >_< Must have been, what, Q you were talking of? They're so very /smug/, Q are. We have /no/ good music mags left, sob sob wail wail whine.

England only have good radio /sometimes/, you know. Most of the time, it's crap. But, anyway, come! It's a pretty okay place, all things considered. ^_^
