...Actually, Asuka isn't there yet because we're only up to the Sixth Angel. Why couldn't they have gotten hold of the second film for Fantasia as well is what I want to know.

Yeah, pretty much. XD; It's a lot more watchable, and for that matter I thought Shinji was a good deal more sympathetic (or maybe I just understood what his deal was better, not being a teenager myself anymore).

Though I also like the idea that you can use this second version to finally understand what was going on in the first version.

I think you've seen more anime than me, including more older series. I was just wondering if you've heard much in the way of Moriguchi Hiroko songs. From what I've heard, she was pretty popular in the late 80s. The only songs of hers I really know are Samurai Heart (and its english version), Be Free, Wild Cat and Ano Hi no Fotogurafu, all of them YST songs.
