petronia: (plugging away)

Opening signups for the September issue; lining up cover illustrators, which shamefully I always forget to do; scoping out and cold-callingcommenting the people in the author suggestion box while working my nerve up to the LJ luminaries (the MBA works well as a crutch for this sort of social anxiety). Though I'm acquainted with quite a few of the authors mooted, and some of the others write for SSBB already, only the fact isn't common knowledge. XD

Oh, and themes for next year. Three slots to fill at least. Suggestions? There's been a few but they're buried under a pile of email at this point. XD;;

Upcoming posts:
  • some music I uploaded ages ago
  • book reviews
  • more music, this time involving Alex Turner out of the Arctic Monkeys and my dreadful suspicion that the future came to Japan first again
  • writeups of six gigs I attended in as many weeks
  • I never record it on LJ anymore when people come to visit me??? I DON'T KNOW WHY :/

[livejournal.com profile] canis_m, got your postcard from Croatia - lovely, let's make it a theme. XD♥

Couple quickies:

1. What are the themes you have planned so far?

2. What are your thoughts on the next yuri issue?

As for themes ... hmm. Perhaps a Romeo and Juliet (or Good Cop Bad Cop, or however you want to phrase it) theme: lovers from opposing sides of whatever. Or maybe a SCIENCE! issue, for alchemists and robots. Or, if you've want something slated for November, a politics and court intrigue issue (though perhaps I'm the only one who'd find that interesting).

I think a politics and court intrigue issue would be awesome. Uh...actually some word beyond awesome which I cannot think of at this moment.

I could get behind a science issue...

(and a star cross'd lovers with a happy ending theme also tickles me, more for the incongruity if anything!)

science! what a brilliant idea: inventors falling in love with their ai given hot bishonen android form! lab-coat shenanigans! physicists on the moon! the possibilities are *_*

When I saw that comic in the LCS, I just had to get it. =-= twain, edison, and tesla ftw. The ultimate in historical science nerdery.

(I would read edison/tesla/westinghouse slash. Or uh, /a fictional story where any resemblance to such persons is purely coincidental/ *cough*)

1) December is theme-free, then we're freshly out. ^^; I do remember now that [livejournal.com profile] tsukikoushi suggested robots/androids, was it? Science is a good one - very early on the idea of an SF issue was mooted but shot down because it seemed too specialized. Obviously times have changed though... I do also want to do another issue for shorts.

2) I've never set a theme for the yuri issues, because there are fewer submissions and I'm not sure if it'd help or hinder.

re #2: No, I agree, I think yuri themes would be a terrible idea. But were you thinking about doing another yuri issue in a few months, or waiting for summer again?

Another one in a few months. Maybe to replace the Halloween issue? Since essentially there won't be one. ^^;

You have a cover artist lined up for the next f/f issue, right? I seem to remember hearing something about that...

No cover artist, no; why, did you have someone in mind? I figured I'd just exploit one of the doodlers I know and love, otherwise.

Let's plan for Halloween, then -- which means I should make the signup post ... mid-August?

Though if you'd like to set a theme, I always fancied a historical...

Oh wow, you have an author suggestion box? =O Top notch!

I am slowly working my way through all of the past issues from number one through the most recent and trying to figure out how, how, how I missed the fact that this was going on all this time. *boggled*

The suggestion box is here (http://petronia.livejournal.com/569815.html). You... didn't know about SSBB? XD Hope you're enjoying the archives, then. (Also would love it if you could join in one of these days. /shifty)

You... didn't know about SSBB?

I KNOW, I'M AN IDIOT, I CAN BE PARTICULARLY DENSE UNLESS SOMETHING IS DROPPED RIGHT IN MY LAP. T_____T I can even remember you talking about it more than once and the neurons didn't fire properly in order to make connections, or something. That's my only excuse and it's a poor one.

I have lost myself in the archives. That's practically all I've been doing in my spare time for the past...uh...what day is it? Since June 23rd when a story was directly recced to me. Everything is so good.

Th-that would be delightful, and an honor.

Oh, good. I was starting to think that batch had been lost to the void. A theme, but...but what? Iconography? Lambs of God?! XD; I did see a lot of bishounen angels in Italian churches--sometimes the marble buttocks of those cherubs were sculpted a little too lovingly, if you know what I mean.

XD A theme for future postcard exchanges; the context was rather muddled.

Secret identities? (As a theme, I mean, not as a request for details.)
