Jens Lekman - A Postcard To Nina: been listening to this album for a while. It's a bit like Kings of Convenience or The Magnetic Fields, I guess? These mildly-danceable, wistful storytelling pop ditties about being stuck in a small town and not getting the girl. This track is exemplary - simultaneously hilarious, sweetly touching, and sad, in a wow-this-chick-is-out-of-line, dude-you're-so-never-getting-laid way.

Jens Lekman - Your Arms Around Me: and this one is XD-inducing. The tune is sparkly indiepop goodness, to the effect that one would retain a completely different sense of what the song is about if one were only half paying attention to the lyrics.

The Besnard Lakes - And You Lied To Me
The Besnard Lakes - Because Tonight

Was told these guys were ace live; saw them at Osheaga and they were (this is how backlogged I am w/r/t musicblogging). I went because I didn't want a repeat of the Arcade Fire situation. XD The indie rock zeitgeist has turned toward this kind of shoegaze-meets-psych, I think - slow, feedback-y, alternately ethereal and massive. The sort of thing that's really fun live because there are like ten people onstage and four guitars shredding at once and every time the bassist plucks a string it feels like it's attached to your aorta.

Final Fantasy - He Poos Clouds: this made me think of [livejournal.com profile] beeblebabe, as it took me a while to extract cogent meaning from the lyrics, and when I did I realized the song was about how real boys suck compared to Link. For that matter this particular instrumental sounds like it came off a Zelda OST. ...This isn't Final Fantasy as in Uematsu, it's Final Fantasy as in the solo project of this guy who plays violin with the Arcade Fire and by the evidence is a giant nerd. Just so we're on the same page ahaha. orz (Owen Pallett kind of impresses me because he's as much an SSBB character as Patrick Wolf is, only invented by a totally different type of fangirl... I'm thinking [livejournal.com profile] coloredink. XD;)

Final Fantasy with Cadence Weapon - This Is The Dream Of Win and Regine: live version. Upped because I seriously laughed at the title for five minutes straight (also it is a good song).

re: owen pallett:

I have a bunch of his tracks on my computer waiting to be listened to (I watched some of his youtube vids though and he is pretty impressive with that looping....) only I keep cracking the hell up at his song titles... XD

Oh yeah, the titles are all hilarious! Then you read the lyrics and realize they're the opposite of funny. XD;; ("I'm Afraid Of Japan" is... about a guy who tells his wife he's gay and she goes into denial, so he reads Mishima and ponders seppuku. I think.)

So... your comment about the lyrics made me start listening to them, which then made me look them up, and... Well. While the tune was nice, after reading the lyrics I (in all seriousness) had to lie down with my feet up before I fainted.

I, uh, may be a little squeamish. >.>

BTW I dreamed last night that Patrick Wolf and Ran were campaigning together in support of all-ages shows. Can I blame you somehow for this? Or is it my fault for reading Pitchfork before bed?
