Code Geass (update)

petroniaUp to episode 20, in two long evening marathons with cake and booze. Basically this series is to Gundam Wing what Prince of Tennis is to Slam Dunk (though Geass's political plot makes a lot more sense than GW's). HERE'S HOPING FOR A MUSICAL.
My favorite character is still Lelouch. XD It's like Yagami Light meets Corwin out of Amber squished into the physical form of a teeny CLAMP!bishounen whose features were never designed to showcase that much villainous glee - I just never tire of watching the little bastard go. He charges headlong into moral bankruptcy because innately vicious, I think (this is not the same as saying he doesn't care about people), no surprise in a family constructed as object demonstration of no-holds-barred Darwinian selection. Britannian royalty: SORT OF LIKE FERRETS?
Compared to Light I feels a lot more affection for Lelouch, if not sympathy. Light might be foiled from time to time but Lelouch FAILS. He can't run, he's arse at piloting mechs, Euphie has better wilderness survival skills than he does - and whenever he's down, C.C. can be counted on to give him a kick where it hurts. It's GREBT. XD Whereas Suzaku is the opposite, sympathy but no affection. He's a mess and sinking deeper with every passing episode, much like Zechs in GW you can't root for him even wrongheadedly because he makes no sense. I'd like Euphie to save him; it's certainly not the other way around.
Charmian says Geass is a huge doujinshi fandom now, which I well believe because anyone x anyone in this series is a recipe for hilarity. This setting aside the fact that the canon itself is basically an ADHD cliché collage, so when you're watching you're like, "Wait, didn't I see that happen inGundam Seed Final Fantasy XII Death Note Ouran?" ...It sounds like I'm criticizing it for being ersatz but the verve is as much in the way it's put together as anything. I do think the series is something of an evolutionary end point though (at least, until Japan tops itself yet again XD).
