Would anyone else be interested in doing this as a meme? It took me two weeks after I came up with the idea. XD;
In any case, your mission - if you choose to accept it:
1) Make a playlist of 52 songs to represent your 2006 in music, one song per week. Theoretically it should be the favorite song on your ipod that week (or the song you will always think of when you remember the Event that occurred that week, etc.), although a certain amount of handwave is inevitable if you haven't been documenting all thru musicblogging LIKE A NERD.
Rules 2) thru 4) were created to help with my decision-making, apply at will depending on your volume and pattern of music consumption:
2) No repeating a song for more than one week.
3) No more than one song by a given artist (less hardcore: from a given album. More hardcore: by a given producer).
4) No music that wasn't acquired in 2006 (more hardcore: no music that wasn't put out in 2006).
5) Write as many notes as you like.
Granted if you've been downloading my musicblogs throughout 2006, you'll have most of these already - but a number of them are from the flist, and not necessarily stuff I commented on at the time. ^^;
01. Bertine Zetlitz - Girl Like You
02. Shuji to Akira - Seishun Amigo: from
cis.
03. The Knife - Silent Shout (Williams Acidic Circuits Remix)
04. Kanno Yoko - dew
05. Jeff Buckley - Forget Her: begged off
calintz for FST purposes.
06. Marit Bergman vs. Justus Kohncke - Rentcode
07. Saint Etienne - He's on the Phone: from
serendip. Though I may have caned "Stars Above Us" more.
08. Richard Hawley - The Ocean
09. Tsuji Ayano - Ai no kakera Koi no kakera: from
canis_m. This represents like three Tsuji Ayano albums. XD
10. Orbital - Halcyon + on + on: from
serendip. Everyone knows this is the most beautiful song on earth y/n?
11. Booka Shade - In White Rooms
12. The Source - You Got the Love (Extended New Voyager Mix): from
surlykitty. Gave me shivers down my back the first time I heard it.
13. Matsuda Seiko - Who's That Boy?
14. Oumou Sangare - Nebife: from a meme done by
fabulous_papaya.
15. Kavinsky - Testarossa Autodrive
16. Nelly Furtado - Promiscuous Girl
17. Cagedbaby - Hello There (Presets Remix): from
surlykitty.
18. Oliver Cheatham - Get Down Saturday Night: classic Montreal early summer evening sitting on balcony with Andrew and Talal, getting disastrously, blindly drunk. GOOD TIMES.
19. Lindstrom & Prins Thomas - Mighty Girl
20. Pet Shop Boys - Fugitive (Richard X Extended Mix): no, it wasn't easy to OPO.
21. Michael Mayer and Reinhard Voigt - Transparenza
22. John Tejada - The End of it All: contender for Best 10 Moments of my Life to Date.
23. Olive - I'm not in Love (Lenny B Radio Mix): from

24. Le Sport - Tell no one About Tonight

canis_m.
26. Chicane - No Ordinary Morning (Radio Edit): JazzFest, watching sunrise with Erin.
27. Delia Gonzalez and Gavin Russom - Relevee (DFA Remix): should be a bit higher in the list, really - World Cup week.
28. Ricardo Villalobos - IchSo: this is actually kind of like FFXII, you know - long and repetitive and hypnotic and loooong and why do I keep playing it?
29. Markus Nicolai - Mr. Big Star (Time Too Short to Finish the Mix Mix): from
cis. Possibly the song I've played most on this list, though I've never said a word about it. This is what the putative Ran mix is built around? Meaning it's rather... warm in tonality, all told, after all.
30. (The Real) Tuesday Weld - The Birds and the Bees: from
serendip. ...Look, she burnt me tons and I couldn't listen to it all at once. XD

41. Brian Eno - Always Returning: from
serendip. Without Brian Eno, no
blind_go fic.
42. Jay Chou and Fei Yu Ching - Qian Li Zhi Wai: from
helvetius. I wished someone would upload it and there it was! XD The music video was on heavy rotation the week I was down with the stomach flu in Shanghai. [1]
43. Hélène Rollès - Je m'appelle Hélène
44. Suga Shikao - Gogo no Parade: from

In conclusion, I keep gacking music off the same ten people, and am two decades behind on everything that's not trendy techno.

Date: 2007-01-16 02:42 pm (UTC)y/y I cannot seem to stop listening to it lately. I feel like I function on a continuous backlog, where I'll acquire an album/song but not get around to obsessing about it until a few months later - only last Nov/Dec did I start looping The New Pornographers' Twin Cinema and The Go! Team's Thunder Lightning Strike on repeat; it gets confusing because I won't listen to what I most recently downloaded because I'm too busy catching up. I'm like one of those annoying people who TiVo everything because they watch another already TiVo'd episode when the actual episode airs. XD
I also have been playing the Seishun Amigo music video over and over and over again, because Nobuta wo Produce is my heart, and Yamapi is at the center of it. :( And then I just realized two days ago that I had the song on my iTunes and was all !!! before I realized it was from you via Karakura Summer Mixtape. (Just like when I saw that Sony LCD commercial that features Jose Gonzalez's "Heartbeats". I was about to download when I searched my iTunes by whim and, of course, the song with an additional remix is already there, even though I don't remember downloading it off you at all.)

Date: 2007-01-16 04:44 pm (UTC)oh and Halcyon+On+On is one of my favorite songs. When I was in high school I once listened to that track on repeat for two straight weeks in my room.
Surprisingly I still like it. >_> (Same thing a few years later in college with Fake Plastic Trees... which I also still like. Ahaha.)
