I have the internet! Laptop + dialup. It's slow and I keep typing the wrong thing due to Chinese Windows but at least it works. \o/

So far in Shanghai I have:

* visited grandpa in hospital
* phoned everyone
* taken a walk in the People's Square at 8AM
* had takoyaki from a street stall
* had two proper Shanghainese mooncakes (flaky pastry with meat filling, piping hot)
* had two of the other kind of mooncake, the sweet sort
* had a packet of those preserved duck liver snacks that you can't bring on the plane due to avian flu
* been crushed by people on the Bund (it's Chinese Golden Week, nuff said)
* had coconut sago pudding with fruit at the dessert place I like on the Pudong side of the river

New street food fads are definitely takoyaki and shish taouk. I have no idea either.

Must go shower, more to come as applicable. XD

Mmm, I've never had mooncakes, but now I want to try them. But they don't sound like the kind of thing that's normally made by one person at home...

BTW, in China is there also a taboo against walking around while eating like there is in Japan?

Mom says you can't bring mooncakes on the plane either if they contain egg yokes. :( [so says the wisdom of Chinese newspapers]

How come you get to eat stuff from street stalls when you said I couldn't cuz the water is contaminated??? XP
