Jul. 13th, 2006 05:44 pmToday I tripped on a step while taking a walk during my lunch hour and sprained my right ankle. It's not very severe but definitely a sprain, the area around the ligament swelled up and everything. I've been icing it on and off and keeping it elevated as best as I can at work but mostly feel exasperation at the idea of having to keep my weight off that foot for the next several days - is it not better yet? I have places to walk! - I have to make sure it heals properly if I want to go dancing any time soon, though. >_>
Maybe this'll encourage me to catch up on my writing, who knows (as usual I'm falling behind schedule).

Date: 2006-07-13 11:08 pm (UTC)Getting hurt at work is no fun. Stay off that foot! You do have places to go and people to see and you'll do it quicker if you don't try to rush it. But you know that already.

Date: 2006-07-14 12:05 am (UTC)By the way, this will sound v. traditional Chinese grandmotherly, but how about going to a Chinese herbalist to see that ankle? The right word should be teet da, who'll see injuries like that.
Last time I twisted my ankle (had to use crutches to walk), my Western doctor prescribed elevation, icing, etc. and said it'd be better in two weeks (just like the last five times I twisted my ankle). The teet da (who I was very skeptical of) I saw slapped a "fragrant" herbal mud wrap/cast on my ankle, had me keep it on for about three days, and by the fourth day, I was walking fine with some help from a tenser.
