Should I post summaries for the later parts of JoJo as I read? ^^; Like part 6 and SBR. I generally do it for other series I follow where the scanlations are stalled or nonexistent, like GetBackers (oh gawd it's ending finally) - I mean it's kind of odd to sagely discuss the implications of this or that when the only person who really knows what I'm talking about is
jokersama, I think. XD I know Charmian is a h0 for spoilers but anyone else?

Date: 2006-06-10 04:42 pm (UTC)When I was raving about JoJo on Shioul, I was blazing my way through Part III. Which I still consider the JoJo's best hour, and have serious hard time imagining any possible way in which Araki-sensei could shift me off that opinion. Then I started reading Part IV - and that's where the insane deadline rush of writing up my dissertation collided with Araki spending several tankoubons pulling storylines out of his nose, without even bothering to pretend to be getting anywhere with them. :)
Recently, though, what with all your noising about JoJo here, I picked it up again and
have just finished Part IV. Am about to post a short blurb to Shioul. :) It did all come together in the end, of course - and it is insanely amusing to see Araki-sensei trying with a straight face to make it look as if all that random stuff he kept coming up with was actually a part of the grand plan all along. :) But gods almighty, what a vicious cliffhanger with the faux activation of Bites-The-Dust that was..! Wanna bet that that's where the serialization took a pause for a good few weeks..? :)

Date: 2006-06-12 07:04 pm (UTC)Part III is where you get the whiff of timeless classic, yes - but a series like JoJo doesn't have a Golden Age without a Silver, and in any case the Decadent Period may actually be the most interesting. :P

Date: 2006-06-08 11:05 am (UTC)I'm enjoying the hell out of your write ups, though I've been a bit hesitant to comment on a stranger's livejournal. (Partially 'cause my own journal's a gross mess right now.) I'm long overdue for a reread of the later parts of JoJo, and I really dig your observations, so I hope you continue.
