petronia: (holidays)

GOOD: having an excuse for coming in late (although the only reason I was later than usual is because I was making my Hideously Green Hijiki Salad for potluck - next time I'm putting in a green mango btw, it's spicy enough to warrant it)

BAD: falling face first into a snowdrift making unintentional snow angel because there is so much snow piled up on the steps I missed the steps

GOOD: wool pants that don't wet

BAD: snow up to knees

GOOD: sense of general comraderie that befalls the city

BAD: je plains mon pauvre papa who had a doctor's appointment and left the house and then the receptionist called to cancel as doctor could not make it out of his own driveway

GOOD: potluck and office party tonight i.e. open bar all night baby

BAD: having to wade through more snow in order to get there

It bears mention, even though it is of course none of my concern, that people falling face first into snowdrifts is inherently sexy. Apart from that, my sympathy with your plight. Winter is something we are quite familiar with here in Norway, although the current one seems to be delayed a bit.

I love it. Even with the back breaking shovelling, it seems to make the evenings where you stay in and drink all the merrier.

Have fun tonight. <3

I have half a mind to beg for pictures of that particular snow angel except I suspect with your Canadian weather, it's too late. Because I've plead, I've begged and everyone thinks I am nuts when all I want is for them to lie on snow, flap about and take pictures.

Pfft. Grown-ups.

Just when I think about moving to Montreal because the air can't be worse than TO and the ambience is better, I'm reminded why I stay here. The 30-40 cm forecast for last night was more like 10 and it's currently melting.

It really is that different isn't it? New coworker from Ontario was claiming just now that this "never happens" where he used to live.

But ALINE (at least it's not Edmonton...)

It happened in 1999, how could you forget, and the panicking chickens reaction to that shows that no, it never happens here- here being TO. Ottawa, Cornwall, Hamilton, the snowbelt out Stratford way, much different story.

Yep, it was interesting, but it makes being inside so much more fun. It's like going "So there!" to the weather.

I just finished shoveling the stairs and the front walkway because my brother didn't get out of bed until after two pm.

My arms could fall off and I wouldn't notice.

Sounds like my day...

And walking down from De La Montagne to our office at 4:ish (long long Xmas lunch) as there was like no taxi...

But it's white AND less cold. I'm all for snow (minus the 2hrs travel time this morning).
