Jürgen Paape - Cream: stardust sexy this track, or at least stripped down to the bare essentials of stardust sexy i.e. "da-da-dadah da da-da-dadah da da-da-dadum da da-da-dadum" lather and repeat for six minutes. When I play this sort of thing for my sister as an example of what I'm into lately she gives me a sour look and then I annoy her by telling her she hasn't developed the ear for it yet. But after German techno's 渋さ everything else sounds like pop confectionery, truth (not that there's anything wrong with that).

NiNa - In The Park: Ced's discovery. NiNa was a girlpop supergroup comprising Yuki of Judy and Mary and Kate Pierson of the B-52s as the vocalists, plus members of the Plastics and [see Wikipedia entry]. They released one album in 1999 which went to #1 in Japan and was apparently HUGE but of course no one outside of Japan so much as knew it happened.

This is one of the Kate songs, not a single but my favorite on the album. I kind of imagine [livejournal.com profile] canis_m putting it on one of her MLP mixes. XD;

In The Park

Picture this--it's a Saturday morning trip
I'm with you my sweet fool
I'm strolling down to get cool
and take a city vacation

I'm going to the park
I see a golden spark above
Today I could fall in love
I'll take a subway to the park

I see lovers entangled
I'm wearing beads and golden bangles
The sun shining sweetly on life
I'm walking in the park

Lai Lai La Lai
Lai Lai La Lai
Lai La Lai

I see lovers entangled
I'm wearing beads and golden bangles
I see purple tulip petals
Floating through a hole in the sky

This hummingbird has found an oasis
children here with smiling faces and
I feel high a kite could fly
'cause I'm walking in the park

I see lovers entangled
I'm wearing beads and golden bangles
I hold the key to life in my hand
I ask why
I wonder
I am wild

Lai Lai La Lai
Lai Lai La Lai
Lai La Lai

For now...no responsibilities
oh, I'm throwing kisses to the trees
I love this feeling of freedom I get
when I'm walking in the park

La Lai Lai Lai Lai...

I'm walking in the park
La La La Lai La Lai
I'm walking in the park

Finally, go take a look at my icons and comment with the following:

1. one that makes you automatically think of me.
2. one that you think I should TOTALLY use more often.
3. one that you don't get/needs more explanation/you have no idea why I have it.
4. comment using an icon of yours that you LOVE, and tell me why you picked THAT one too.

EDIT - I gotta beg. (I don't usually remember to beg.) Isolée's "My Hi-Matic" and that darned Superpitcher cover of "Baby's On Fire", original and/or remix, anyone? Please?

1.
Though I can substitute that for many, many others because you don't switch icons much. Consistency, yay!
2.
Awww, cutie.
3.
Though, okay, I can also choose multiple ones for this since you have so many obscure album covers (like the individualist one!). Or your food icon. I don't think I get that either. ._.

...You wrote either "SRC IMG" or "IMC SRC". But it's okay I LOVE YOU ANYWAY.

I guess the point is one is supposed to explain the icons people didn't get? XD "Gag me with a spoon" is girl!Sopp from Five Star Stories, girl!Sopp being a complete Valley Girl (in minidress and ladybug purse) despite actually having secret identity of a) God Emperor of the Solar System and b) a boy most of the time, but that is pretty much arbitrary.

"Individualist" is the sigil of a secret terrorist ideologue society in Ghost in the Shell Stand Alone Complex season 2. There's actually some sort of Japanese history link but cannot quite remember.

"Food" is an err avant-guardist Herb Ritts fashion photograph (avant-guardist as it has no clothes in!). Always loved Herb Ritts, was quite sorry when he died. It says "tako-sashimi" because octopus on model's head, I am the Soul of Wit as always. :D;

*uses Inui icon for you*

Mememe!
1) "Damn I'm good" ... perhaps because you are?
2) Singing gerbil ... since you have a lot of music-related posts, and it is hilarious.
3) Nana? I guess I just don't know you well enough, but I've seen this a bit and have no idea.
4) Well, because it is true, and I imagine that's exactly their facial expression when they write some of the stuff I see.

The "Nana" icon is just a headshot of one of the main characters from the Nana manga. ^^

Also, I sent you my bb_shotetsu thing and I have an awful feeling you may get like, three copies of it because gmail kept timing out on me when I tried to send you both the text file and the illustration. ._. I eventually sent you them both seperately cos I had a copy of the picture I'd sent to Sakkit after I colored it. >_____>

1. You use so many icons, I don't really make the connection. Maybe the album covers. Those I recognize.
2. Hmm, I like the love potion and Jirou ones.
3. Why the "aesthetics" one? Who's David Hamilton?
4. Eh, I guess the sloth one. Cause it's cute. Don't really think my other icons are very inexplicable.

David Hamilton is a fashion photographer who's specialised in wisful half-naked underaged Swedish girls shot in soft daylight since the 70s. These days he catches a lot of flak for a) not being Art and b) being softcore child porn (the accusation is valid in that if you agree with A you must perforce agree with B). I've always liked him though. My dad has a whole bunch of his artbooks and I grew up looking at them, to no ill effects I can discern. XD; But he is associated in my mind with said judgment call of aesthetics, and thus the icon.

I actually have two icons that are David Hamilton details - that and the "redhead" one.

Once I started a fic about Lily and Narcissa as David Hamilton girls, but I don't think anyone got it.

hahaha.

3. I have no idea what this is:

Also I know what they're supposed to be, but I can't tell the black mage icons apart without keywords. I'm no good at picking up emotion from pixel art, I guess.

Using a Gin icon because he's disappeared from the manga. Where are you, Gin? I am also fond of this (http://www.livejournal.com/userpic/26477661/3259057) icon (first ever on livejournal).

1. The "music" icon reminds me of you, though I only just now realized that was Jirou, not Ran. I also get disappointed when [livejournal.com profile] jamjar (I think?) uses the "Damn, I'm good" icon because it's not you.

2. Er, the back mages are cute?

3. The singing gerbil combines cuteness and mystery. Where does it cone from?

4. It's a close call, but I like the generosity of this icon's apples a little move than the harshness of my "editorial gaze" icon.

If you image-google "gerbil" the singing gerbil pic comes up on the front page. I've no idea where it's from otherwise. XD

this has got to be either bacteria or multicoloured antibiotic pills.

4. comment using an icon of yours that you LOVE, and tell me why you picked THAT one too.

the colours, the layout and the focus. and the fact that the icon exudes some kind of oriental aura. it has to be one of the prettiest icons i've ever had so far.

It says "Let's play with Ramune". It comes from... the official Ramune website? XD I tend to use it to indicate Japanese snacks and a sort of happy disposable commercialism.

1. Everyone on the flist uses really distinct icons so I never get people mixed up. That said, I especially like the New Order "No" icon because it cracks me up. XD
2. "aesthetics", because it really is all about aesthetics.
3. the tachikoma GitS one (I've only seen the original movie...)
4. it's a pretty accurate reflection of my posting mood

...I have such a Pavlovian response to search-type questions but it never hurts to check out what you rec, so hey. XD;

:D You're a doll! ...I still can't tell which version he played, it sounds so different on a club system. ^^;

Isolée seems to be very well regarded. I've never been particularly struck by any of their tracks up to this one, which I really liked when I heard it in a mix.

The tachikoma icon comes from a gag chapter in the manga where some of the tachikoma decide to revolt against human oppression and others are not convinced. XD

^_^ There's one more remix to add to the confusion: Superpitcher - Baby's on Fire (Ek Mix) (http://s4.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=13CPZKIT8NCDA2SE7PP76J0M16)

The My Hi-Matic track's piqued my curiosity enough to make me want to look into them (have auto-filed it under "late night music", which is a very broad category really). Oh, because I keep forgetting to ask: would you be interested in Mylène Farmer's Dance Remixes album? It's the one containing the Remix Club version of Pourvu qu'elles soient douces. XD

Yaaaaaaaay nicked the music!!! Am listening to it right now. ^_^

1. one that makes you automatically think of me.
Agh, that's like half of them. But the ones that ping me the most are the Akutagawa icon, the Siren's Call album cover (to the point that I can't look at my CD without thinking of this journal XD), the mix tape and the Suezou icons. At gunpoint, I'd say the mixtape.

2. one that you think I should TOTALLY use more often.
*points to this-entry icon* That may possibly be my favorite icon of yours ever. Also I want to steal it. *envious*

3. one that you don't get/needs more explanation/you have no idea why I have it.
The one that says "Ramune"? What's in that bottle? What is Ramune? Why is it an icon? *dead with suspense*

4. comment using an icon of yours that you LOVE, and tell me why you picked THAT one too.
I picked Perseus. Cos, you know, he's my Muse.
