Kotobuki Tarako continues to screw with me
Jul. 4th, 2005 08:23 pmHaha so guess how long it took me to realise 'Yonekuni' and 'Hidekuni' are alternate readings for 'Beikoku' and 'Eikoku', even while staring at the kanji all this time? :D;
...Dude, it doesn't even work.
(Edited to add: if you plug 英国 into Google the first hit you get is the University of Cambridge, but if you plug "England" the first hit is the CIA Factbook entry. Um.)

In other BL series I'm sort of following news: I'm waiting for
penis_envious submissions to be posted even though I know they're going to hurt me (the better the writer the greater potential for brain damage, methinks). ...Actually Charmian had encouraged me to sign up for it, that day I was complaining of the blehs.
Charmian: Well, I guess you could also take up Yasmin's challenge. XD Of course that would be work, but weren't you bemoaning the fact that your flist is too decorous?
Sabina: What, Chintsubu? XD
Charmian: Yep. Weren't you saying that everyone is just too tasteful so you lack inspiration to write non gen stuff?
Sabina: Oh, yes. XD
Sabina: But that's more like, I dunno, *other* people should take Yasmin up.
Charmian: True. It would require working.
Sabina: I can't imagine what I would write for Chintsubu.
Charmian: Mirage of Blaze? After all...
Sabina: I have a sinking feeling it would end up involving Mirage, yes.
Sabina: I was just about to say.
Sabina: But really, the Gravitation crossover is enough.
Charmian: Well, it's the obvious choice. There already is a lot of canon detail you can draw on. XD
Sabina: Ha. Ha.
Sabina: They have yet to have a McGuffin buried under a phallus shrine.
Sabina: Although I wouldn't discount the possibility.
Charmian: See, you've thought of a plotline already.
But instead I made
bb_shousetsu. Aren't we happy for that?
(Also for some reason I keep expecting people to write more Viewfinder fic. I dunno. It just feels like there should be tons of it lying around my flist, and I'm vaguely puzzled all the time to realise there isn't.)

Date: 2005-07-04 11:03 pm (UTC)Sometimes I do get the desire to write Viewfinder fic, but I keep wanting to write something vaguely related to the Real World, as opposed to Yamano World[tm]. Psychological realism + Viewfinder = does not compute. XD
Also, I constantly have a contrary urge to write Feilong/Takaba.
I maintain that by creating

BTW? Wanna spring by my LJ? You might be able to vaguely summarize what I linked :P (as long as it's NOT spoilerish)

Date: 2005-07-04 11:32 pm (UTC)I'd encourage you to write that Feilong/Takaba but someone might spork me.
Also, did I mention I'm working on your request drabble?

Date: 2005-07-04 11:35 pm (UTC)As long as it's not spoilerish (aka if Jack turns into soup? I don't want to know) a little summary will be greatly appreciated. I can't believe it will have been about 18 months (nearly) since I've watched the whole series... just waiting for the friggin' last ep.

Date: 2005-07-05 12:21 am (UTC)I may do it anyway, because I have a deathwish.
Feel free take your time on the drabble. Goodness knows I do. XD Speaking of which, I should finish at least one of the latest batch soon before they show up at my door with pitchforks.

Don't panic, I'm stuck on SSBB too!
Date: 2005-07-05 03:09 am (UTC)And this is different from the canonical plot of Mirage how, exactly? We write Takaba because he's easier to write than sociopathic Asian mafiosi, presumably. And also because reluctant heroes in positions rather enviable to the reader are a time-honoured mainstay of genre fiction (see: dorky boy happens into piloting giant robot, ordinary schoolgirl sucked into alternate fantasy universe).

Date: 2005-07-05 08:39 am (UTC)Um, please excuse a poor ignorant git but just what does 'beikoku' and 'eikoku' mean? *sweatdrop*
Thank God I'm not the only one!
Date: 2005-07-05 10:39 am (UTC)It is not at all! At least you'll be logically consistent with Kuwabara-sensei, no? Tell me you can't see it!It's true that I quail at the thought of attempting to write Asami POV, simply because he's there basically to screw, be sexy and have UST with anyone in the same room and we all know it. Er. By which I mean, he's Touga. Apparently, I need to get in touch with my hidden desire to be kidnapped and
lovedscrewed for hours in kinky S&M bondage games by ruthless Asian mafia lords. By which I mean, this is sounding easier all the time.no subject
