Tetka. You can click and drag her to make her fall in interesting ways. I think it must be some sort of advanced Flash programming assignment, actually, but there's something decidedly hypnotic about it. XD

50 Essential Canadian Tracks Countdown. Was listening to this with my dad and sister yesterday. Most of the list is Can-rock to which I'm vastly indifferent (and some of it is WTF - "The Safety Dance"??!!?), and none of us had even heard of "Four Strong Winds" before. However I can agree "If I Had $1000000" is a piece of quintessential Canadiana. XD

Funnily enough, just this afternoon I saw Bachman-Turner Overdrive playing "Takin' Care of Business" for Live 8. So that's twice in two days for a song I don't think I've heard for years. ^^; Have definitely not heard "Heart of Gold" since high school, was surprisingly nostalgic.

[livejournal.com profile] wildelamassu has many drabbles here, albeit friends-locked. I had to link because she wrote a Mirage of Blaze one that totally cracked me up. XD

none of us had even heard /of/ "Four Strong Winds" before

I thought that was on the citizenship exam. (You know they were the ones wrote Someday Soon? Or he did. She wrote You were on my mind, which ought to be on that list as well.)

no bells

...*shakes head haplessly* ^^;;

I've heard pretty much everything else in the top 30. I don't know. Am I too young? I should poll lj.

You're too young. I don't know half the music on the list because it's post-1980 which is about when I stopped listening to music.

What, no Five Iron Frenzy (http://www.elyrics4u.com/o/oh_canada_five_iron_frenzy.htm)?

(Okay, so this is the theme song of Michiganders who go to Canada on vacation and don't bother distinguishing between Lake Red Rock in Western Ontario and the rest of the country.)

XD I didn't know what you meant, then I went and looked at the lyrics and realised it was the "milk in a bag" song.

Haha.

...So does your milk really come in a bag?

Yes. ...Well. It also comes in cartons of various sizes, but if you have a large family or otherwise consume a lot of milk, what you would get at the supermarket is a tied plastic bag that contains three roughly rectangular 1-litre transparent sealed plastic bags. You take one of these, stand it vertically in an oval pitcher designed for the purpose, and snip the corner off to create an opening from which to pour.

What milk doesn't come in are gallon plastic jugs. Apple cider does, though. XD
