At least it's Saint Jean-Baptiste weekend, so I can go in tomorrow to fix Gord's computer (for value of "fix" equal to "reinstalling Windows") instead of having it hang over my head like Damocles' sword until Saturday. =_= Not enthused. Despite common misconception, computers do not "just" screw up by themselves, someone must have done something to it, but at this point it's probably not even possible to figure out what caused the original problem.
That will teach me to take two weeks off because I wanted to try working five days out of seven instead of six.
On Sunday I went to the Street Fair on the Main, starting from just beneath Saint Arthur, and shopped in an uphill direction for about three hours. (For those of you not in Montreal id est pretty much everybody, they close off Saint Laurent Blvd. which is a major north-south commercial artery, and every store and restaurant pitches a tent or stall in front of their door selling whatever it is they sell at discount. Like the Gallimard bookstore puts out their discount bin books, and the space fb dumps last season's tops on picnic tables, and the Old Europe deli/grocery wheels out a grill and starts selling hot sausage-and-sauerkraut sandwiches at 3.50$ a pop. Even the ExCentris movie theatre was hawking t-shirts and subscriptions I suppose. Sunday it was finally warm and sunny, so the crowds were massive.) Bought:
On Monday I wore the sundress to work, went for a walk around 1PM, found that there was a discount book fair being held in tents along the waterfront and hung about tachiyomi-ing Jean Lorrain for an hour and a half, with the result that my shoulders and the back of my neck sunburnt awfully. XD;; I tan easily so in order to sunburn I really do have to be standing unprotected under full-blast summer sun for more than an hour, i.e. stupid. Didn't even buy any books, because after Sunday's splurge I'm Poor Until Payday(tm). Did obtain - get this - the Fabric 11: Swayzak mix CD slightly foxed but original packaging intact including sticker for 2$. Can you say "fell off the back of a truck"? XD; I feel guilty by association.
On Tuesday I met Golitzinsky and this friend of his Shawn for dinner and shooting of breeze. Wore the halter top. That was funny. It actually produced the illusion that I had boobs and they would be going somewhere, if I didn't keep looking down suddenly to catch them in the act. I don't know how people who do have boobs wear these things, it must take more faith in Providence than I can muster. Related observation: men are easily distracted.
It started raining in the evening. I put my foot down, or else we would've ended up in the middle of a field somewhere beyond Atwater during a downpour instead of ensconced on the open balcony of the Guy-Concordia Second Cup café with a veil of water coming down all around.
Wednesday: nothing of note that was fun. Could not have been over fast enough. ^^; Had a beer and finished the second Trinity Blood ROM novel after I got home, though - more on that.
Today: better. Will be meeting Tania for dinner. Wore the blinding orange skirt and was complimented on it, which only goes to show. I really need to get a couple of those beige / paisley / beaded "bohemian" tank tops to go with it, regular t-shirts won't do.

Date: 2005-06-23 10:56 pm (UTC)I think IT WAS Monday that I went there too... and I lunch at 1:00 and I skimmed while going through the stalls (I'm talking about the Vieux-Port bouquiniers or whatever)... O.O
For all I know? We might have been there at the same time ^_~ but I was on the iPod and just really going through the stalls (only saw a few manga at the first one and nothing else caught my attention except some Japanese methods I rapidly skimmed through).

Date: 2005-06-24 05:27 am (UTC)In other news, I've bought more designed tees in the past month than in the rest of this life and the previous.
Meh, August 3rd is the latest timetable for my rretour au pays. My travel agent says the tick is on waiting list for Tokyo-Chicago, but he's got high confidence that it's going to work out (while I just hope that it doesn't, now that I'm starting to have fun).
