Speaking of WWII (well, in the last post which is spoilerish up to book 17 - I should really have taken that bit out and posted it separately): if you count the "present-day" Mirage continuity as having started in '90-'92 or so - which you basically have to due to the UTTER AND EERIE LACK OF CELLPHONAGE - then "30 years ago" would be '60, and thus they would actually have been quite young during the firebombing of Tokyo fifteen years previous. Say if Naoe was in his early thirties when the whole Minako thing happened he probably wasn't twenty yet at the time. Yay for, um, avoiding the draft. ...I don't know why I assume Naoe is always older, except that in Kagetora's memory he's obviously much bigger and stronger. XD Which would make sense if Kagetora were 12-14 or something.
