Since I know I have to get out of here in 1/2 hour and I won't have time to answer them all XD; (work has been insane today, but at least I have had some good $$$-related news *ahem*). Questions asked by
ayalesca.
1. your imagining of anime genderswap sherlock :DDDDDD
Will have to think about this! Like... I have a sense of it mentally, weirdly enough, but I can't quite describe what I'm seeing even on the "it's sort of like [this] crossed with [that]" level. Like, is it a Madhouse show? I don't think it's BONES. J.C.Staff did a mahou shoujo sorta version of Sherlock Holmes a couple of years ago... actually I think the shoujos were descendents of Holmes/Nero Wolfe/Poirot/CORDELIA GRAY respectively. Obviously once you get into the question of "previous anime adaptations of Sherlock Holmes" you are down the rabbit hole for good.
In a way I would like it to be Kyoto Animation, even. XD; Like classy high-end slice-of-life moe + CASEFIC (nb this is what Sherlock actually is). Seiyuu are key, feel free to help me cast, remember this is a genderswap - though Cumberbatch probably rates a dedicated dubber in Japan at this point, and I'd like to know who. All I remember is that Fujiwara Keiji dubs Robert Downey Jr., because that actually caused me to watch a couple of episodes of that terrible Iron Man anime, which I had fairly specific complaints about but didn't inform LJ/DW/Tumblr because, really. Who cares. XD; This has digressed a bit I feel.
2. fashion/personal style
GUIDELINES: I believe in dressing to flatter one's body shape, but the rules that derive from that are more flexible than ppl imagine, I think. I also believe in finding the right decade(s) for you: most of my clothes are in 60s or 70s silhouettes, with some 80s. My sister, who has a similar build but is much more petite, looks best in 1920s-inspired outfits. You would think there's not much difference in construction between a 20s flapper dress and a 60s one-piece dress, but the one will look good on her and not on me, and vice versa.
QUIRKS: I like cropped trousers and jeans (bare feet in summer, knee-high socks in winter). Ankle boots, because I have fat calves. One-piece dresses, as aforementioned (by themselves in summer, with tights and a cardigan or blazer in winter). I have recently discovered that a v-neck sweater over a short-sleeved blouse with a high or bow collar is much more comfortable and flattering than the same sweater over a long-sleeved shirt with a dress collar. I really like bow collars, actually; and statement necklaces. I like two-piece suits, and blazers, and high heels, but I hate the "pantsuit and pumps" style of business wear. It would make me really actively unhappy on a deep level to dress like a lawyer.
FASHIONS: I take a lot of inspiration from TV/books/whatever, w/r/t putting together new outfits (which I sort of tinker at and rebuild, like my mixtapes) and colour schemes.
3. favorite alcoholic drinks
Ahahahahaha hmmm. I need to cut down on my drinking tbqh. :D;;;
WINE: redacted for tiresome specificity. I'm very much about opening the right bottle for the right meal. On the other hand, a rock-bottom cheap rose or white has its own pleasure, like an ice-cold Bud Light Lime. XD Generally, I like Old World better than New World, and fruit better than oak. I like $15 cava much better than prosecco, champagne, or any other sparkling wine, for some weird reason.
BEER: will drink anythin, from St Ambroise Apricot to xxxtreme IPAs to English style ales to 9% stout with espresso in. I really like specialty winter beers with coriander and orange peel and stuff. But I do a case of ice-cold Bud Light Lime a summer, no shame (and I put even more fresh lime in it when I drink it... basically I treat it as a slightly more flavourful Lime Perrier).
MIXED: Hendricks for lemon or cucumber martinis, Tanqueray for dirty martinis, Bombay Sapphire for gin and tonics. The above is not negotiable. I usually don't drink fruity or cola mixers anymore, or hellspawn liquors like Midori: they're too sweet. Even port and sherry are too sweet. I'd rather have a classic aperitif - a campari or a pastis. Peach schnapps in a light lager is a great summer drink, though, and so is the classic mojito.
XMFC will go the way of any fandom, but Fassbender's martini recipe as transmitted by James McAvoy in that one interview? FOREVER GOLD.
SAKE: I like nigori sake, but really - whatever is good quality.
WHISK(E)Y: I'm kind of into bourbon right now, to be honest. I got a bottle of Knob Creek from the LCBO but I think I like Maker's Mark better. My favourite Scotch is 10-year-old Talisker but I haven't got a bottle at the moment.
Drinks I am good at making, for others: martini, g&t, kir, mojito, whiskey sour.
4. places I need to go if I ever hit up Montreal
The usual tourist attractions: the Old Port, Olympic Stadium/Botanical Gardens/Biodome, McGill University, Place des Arts downtown concert hall/museums area. The usual local food suggestions: Schwartz's Deli, St Viateur or Fairmount Bagel, La Banquise for poutine. (Higher-end restaurants can be listed on demand. XD) In winter I drag people to Igloofest, and in summer to Piknic Electronik, or to the tam-tams on Mont Royal on Sundays. There is basically always some sort of outdoors music/food/theatre/weird contemporary art installation festival happening, Montrealers love that shiz. I always suggest people go check out Saint Joseph's Oratory, because it's really impressive, but I love sacred architecture with a passion, so.
5. favorite tropes in fiction, all forms of (yeah I'm asking a lot of people this XD)
Part 2!
6. the next thing that you would like William Gibson to write
Dude hints at the end of this interview that after ten years of immersing himself in RL weirdness, he's up to speed enough to consider writing SF again. I don't know if it'd turn out any good, but I definitely would like him to take a shot at it.
7. most surprising/counterintuitive thing you learned in business school
Part 2, again. XD;

I eagarly await more of your thoughts on Sherlock XDCan't think of any seiyuu but I have fallen out of that loop, if I were ever in it. But I did briefly envision the tall brunette + short blonde + weekly "cases" and got a very brief and totally inappropriate flashback to Noir XD
