Yet more Viewfinder babble, amazingly

It occurs to me that Viewfinder and its ilk are the only series on what I think of as the classic animanga fandom schedule anymore - you know, back when fansubs came four episodes to a VHS tape and there was no such thing as chapter-by-chapter manga scanlations? Wait two months for an installment, arm-wave excitedly for ten minutes, settle down to write fic and wait another two months. I'm not sure if this counts as irony or what. XD

People on my flist talking about the latest chapter of Viewfinder: sesame_seed in essay form with bonus music, yasminm... succinctly. XD Also, I don't usually visit the comm except to anonymously gack scans but I have to link the Is The Author Dead (tm) thread for posterity. Dude, if it shows up on yamane_ayano for love of life it must really be a fannish inevitability. XD Or is it a sign of sensei's genius, that people are getting riled over non-con in a BexBoy manga - in which every other chapter to date has been borderline or all-out non-con by the by, the characters solve ALL THEIR PROBLEMS through either forced sex or bullets so I honestly don't know what people were expecting when Takaba misplaced his brain and went haring after Feilong,** I mean it's not precisely Only The Ring Finger Knows. Yanno.

If we're going to get on the subject at all, I'm with the person who pointed out that Yamane-sensei quite obviously likes Feilong - I mean, you can tell when a mangaka isn't terribly fond of one of their characters or doesn't know what to do with him/her. They tend not to get their own tankoubon-length flashback arcs, let alone 4,091 gratuitous chapter frontispieces. She likes him unscrupulous and a bit psychotic, evidently; well, for that matter so do I. This is why Kristin says I don't write enough fluff. XD;;

(My problem is that AFAICT pretty much nobody in the entire universe likes Asami, Takaba and Feilong about equally, except it's obvious to me that Yamane-sensei herself does. And I do. Thus I think I understand her best or something. >_>)


** I was expecting exactly what happened, I'll have you know! Except for the part where Asami manages to show up in time. And the part where he and Feilong conspicuously fail to cause lasting damage to each other despite being at a distance of what four yards. For bob's sake Asami didn't even shoot to disable like Fei did, he shot to disarm, it only got Feilong in the side on a ricochet. I would've been a lot less charitable to someone who'd just raped my boyfriend and SHOT ME IN THE LEG.

(Either that or the ricochet was planned and he's just that good. XD;;;;;; Who knows. I bet he owns at pool.)

If I was Asami, I would've shot Feilong in the head. But then we wouldn't have (presumably) Takaba-torture in future chapters. XD

Exactly! Ha, maybe he suddenly remembered how much extra complication he had to go through to get Fei an ambulance at the end of High Loft and couldn't bring himself to waste the effort. XD;;

Takaba-torture: and in between he could make friends with Feilong's cute little servant boy, or something. =_=

Well, Viewfinder is the most serious of her series. But... in comparison with Ikoku Irokoi Romantan, is the thing.

Tell me if you find Crimson Spell scanlations from 4 onward. XD I'm fond of that one, actually, it's almost CLAMPesque - ornate wands! flying bunnies! Hogwarts! - but uh with pr0n so.

YES, thank you! When I first saw all the moaning and complaining over NT5, my initial thought was "...you do remeber that he raped Takaba the first time he met the boy for pretty much THE EXACT SAME REASON, RIGHT?"

okay, so, um. having looked at lots of pretty art for viewfinder and read some fic (i like to jump the gun on fandoms, showing up before i even know i want to), are there still places to download it? i was gonna wait for the official english release, but god knows when that's gonna be. o.O (the website for be beautiful or whatever says that the release dates are posted six months in advance, so no release date makes me anxious... for my porn. um, imma gonna go over here now.)

Dunno how anyone really truly takes VF seriously. I enjoy the manga a lot, love reading the fics (since they make the characters waaaay more normal and human than the original work), but it can't make me angst. At all. :P
