Address by Prime Minister Paul Martin on Bill C-38 (The Civil Marriage Act). Actually, I'm glad and proud to live in this country every day (the climate only reassures me that the good is being balanced out on the cosmic scale by suckage and thus there is no other shoe in danger of dropping). Today a little more so than usual.

Random [livejournal.com profile] imomus multimedia entry: The Death of the Squid. Mostly for [livejournal.com profile] squidlet, because it's the sort of thing I find amusing when I haven't slept, although I have yet to discover a multimedia project titled "The Death of the Petronia". XD;;

The ILM thread re Waiting For The Sirens' Call (or as I like to call it, Why Not A One-Word Title You Wankers). Too lazy to repeat other people. I really like this album. I mean really like. Better than Get Ready, which means something different coming from me than from everyone else in the universe, as am really sole person in said universe to have heard Get Ready before anything else New Order did (though the learning curve was steeply abbreviated as was one of those Never Heard Anything Like It OMGWTFBBQ Must Have More Right Now situations that happen all too rarely). Can't really compare it to their previous albums otherwise, mostly it just sounds to me like "Temptation" and "Regret" got married and made adorable babies. I don't think there's a track I'd skip on it until the last song, which is not so much bad as it sounds less like the last song of the new New Order album than the first song of something else altogether, and not what I'd have chosen to put on after the new New Order album at that. XD Every time I hear it I think "ARGH WHO FORGOT THAT IN THE CD CHANGER ....oh wait."

...Happy Birthday, Yuuta-kun. ^^

EDIT -- 1) "The Death of the Petronia" could be the title of a Bleach chapter. 2) Corollary: does being gay make you more apt at writing operating systems for giant robots? 3) Grace Jones sounds like she really has lost control, bit alarming really. The fact that the track exists makes me happy, though. So much has happened on planet Earth that I don't know about! Something to discover every day!

Get Ready was really your first New Order? Do you inclue any possible singles/hits? *boggles* Wow, you weren't kidding when you said you lived in a atextual pop music bubble.

Really my first New Order. I'd heard "Blue Monday" previously, I think, but only to the extent that when I played Best Of for the first time I went "Oh, I think I've heard this before somewhere." Hadn't heard "Bizarre Love Triangle" which in retrospect I find really odd, as afterward I couldn't go a single night at a nightclub without it getting played. However I knew you (and Janni) liked New Order before I heard it, which was why I sideswipe-downloaded Get Ready when I was looking for something else (Garbage's BeautifulGarbage - I can reproduce that entire afternoon in unaccustomed clarity in my mind complete with what I was wearing and the contents of the assignment I was procrastinating on because the music engraved it there), so it is your fault. XD

Also, when I first got into them I went around playing songs like "True Faith" and "Regret" at parties, and not a single person had heard any of them. As of now all my RL friends only know this band because of me. IME the only New Order song people can be counted on to recognize in this country is BLT. ^^;

That is so bizzare. I'm really not the biggest music g33k in the world, but people who don't know who NO is? How? XD BLT is prolly their biggest hit, bigger than Blue Monday in some ways, because BLT came when they were more entrenched and BLT could rely on Blue Monday. I was always a bit of an 80's freak as a little girl and I was the most saturated in pop culture from ages 1-5. (We had cable and MTV then.)

So odd. I didn't realise that Janni and I turned you into a NO h0. I assumed you liked them pre-dating us ^^ Oh, the things you learn.

Ah, thank you. Cephalopods. I've always felt something in common with them, a single squid lost in a herd (? what do you call massive numbers of squids clustering together) of frenzied squids.

It's a very interesting movie. I mean, you gotta wonder. They have a pretty well developed nervous system, and not much by way of central processing. So maybe all they do is feel pain. No, but, it's laying flat out on land. Imagine, it's not just dying from being disembowelled, it's also suffocating and being crushed at the same time! With poking too!

Fascinating! What do you think would be the reverse situation? Hmm. Deep underwater, me in a bubble that's gradually filled with water, and nibbled at by innumerable squid beaks!

(I wonder if that squid, if it could, would it adopted the fandom name "human"?)
