Second half of what eventually ended up as a monster 2-CD mix, because my data key can only fit so many mp3s. Part I has a loungey sound that gradually revs up into the ensuing sleek Euro-electro-house. So really Part II is better conceived of as Nuriko Mix. XD If this were a real CD the cover would be matte black with glossy hot pink lettering and accents. I have a sort of Platonic ideal of a house party in my head that takes place in a open-plan penthouse apartment, with a view of the nocturnal waterfront and a disco ball refracting light off the glass-and-chrome furnishings; this one goes on the sound system past midnight, after everyone's had a couple of flutes of pink champagne to wash down the salmon tartare. ...I'll never be able to throw this party, not least because I think I'm the only person I know in Real Life who really really really likes this particular genre of dance music, but somewhere in the multiverse it's happening.

In musespace, perhaps.

I never know what to do with these things; it usually takes me a month until I know if I like something.... I rather like [livejournal.com profile] ladysisyphus's idea that one should post random interesting text from another window one's got open. Thanks, though. I usually like your up-tempo stuff better, so I'm looking forward to this.

euro-electro-house = biggest soft spot & weakness known to music, but shhhh, I'll get kicked out of the indie/e-mo superclub if anyone finds out. do you know how long it took me to get in? a year ago, I was like belle & sebastian, what? the little mermaid anyone?

(that said, ladytron <3! is it bad that all of their songs make me think of sex? yeah, I didn't think so.)

Bah, indie/emo, says she. XD (Although today I discovered I really really really like the Arcade Fire after all. So there is some sense to the hype. XD)

Ladytron is great. I actually have promo videos of them handed to me at a club before '604' really blew up in the public consciousness, and for that matter before I started liking them very much. But I liked them enough to go see them when they were on tour for 'Light and Magic'.

i think i'll take this opportunity to mention that lately i've been jogging (well, when it's been warm enough out; mid-40s [us heathen fahrenheit users] is usually good XD) with the Kamio mikkusu (first version) lately. XDXD

for which it works really well. this may also work, on more low-key, floaty days.

rewatching Millennium has made me want to do a Millennium FST. hrrm. XD

I'd think this current one is a bit too syncopated for jogging, actually. But glad the Kamio mikkusu works. XD

I still can't quite believe your music posts are singlehandedly responsible for my addiction to Mylene Farmer. =_=; I like the mood of this one as a whole; it's not something I'd listen to on my own, but if I was at that (imaginary) party I'd love it. XD

I'm always glad to garner Mylène more fans. *g* Glad you enjoyed.

Am downloading. Still don't remember what electro is. The back-naming of music genres confuses me.

Me: Wtf is this baggy shit? Wait, I know all of these songs and groups. ARGH XD

Also, not loving the chewing gum remix, which I already have, but can see how fake id knows his mooxik history ^^

I'm a little mixed on this type of music myself. It's a little too chill out for me. I like it when the bass sort of slays j00, house sl0re that I am. The last half of the soundtrack is stronger than the first half, mostly because the first half sounds like the same song to me, not enough contrast. I loved the Sunshine Yellow track and the Felix Da Housecat track. Did you use some of these tracks on the mix you'd made me? They sound oddly familar. ^^

Curious to hear what you think of the Chewing Gum remix. I don't think it really improves on the original, but I am strangely fonder of the Tom Tom Club than I have ever, ever thot I was. ^^

I was being very genre-restrictive, yes. XD Thing is I really like that particular sound ("electro" meaning I think not so much the actual early 80's stuff but specifically '01 made to sound like '81, except it doesn't because no matter how they fuzz it up they cannot hide the fact that production techniques have improved, i.e. every Felix da Housecat remix uhh ever), so I have a lot of it, and picked the tracks I liked best that were sung and not shouty punk. XD I like the syncopation, and the "buzzy" bassline. I'm more into house these days but for a long time it was too forceful for me.

"Sunshine Yellow" and the FdH track are favorite of mine as well. I didn't know how many people would like the former. XD I'm pretty sure the latter went on your mix, though.

At the time I heard the "Chewing Gum" remix I thought I liked it better, due to it being sped-up and more intricate than the original, but now I find it hard to say. XD The remix works better in that particular sandwiched context.

I know you were being genre-restrictive, but that doesn't mean there can't be more contrast. The second half of the ST had more contrast which is why I liked it.

Sunshine Yellow is a nice track. My ears perked up when I heard it. Also a fan of the FdH, so XDXDXD

The Chewing Gum remix is definitely a better fit for the ST that you made, but I think I like the original better. Damnit, Heartbeat is still too short, I will just pray, prolly w. no returns, that the single will have an extended version XDXDXDXDXD

speaking of Felix da MouseMat, did you ever hear a certain remix he was involved in that involved remixing Iggy Pop + Peaches duetting? >D

it is, um, like wow. and i know Sabina knows what i'm talking about (was it Fluxblog?)...XDXD
