Lady Sovereign - Sad Arse Strippa
Bugged
cis to get me this. XD Basically it's a song about how another song ("Bad Ass Strippa") and the UK R&B starlet who sings it (Jentina) suck donkey balls through a thin straw. The tailor-made venom of the put-down is more evident if you've heard the latter; I've only got it as part of a mix; but a quick google will tell you what you can imagine already even if you're not ahhh lucky enough to live in a part of the world where she's on the radio, namely that Jentina's something of a soft target. Am fairly fascinated by this track all the same. There's a quality of adolescent aggression to it. That turn of phrase is redolent of skater punks breaking windshields on parked cars, but what I mean is a sort of... idealism? That is, the utter disdain with which Lady Sov hisses "fucking fake" makes me extrapolate the existence of a sort of musical-industry Death Note, in which one writes the name of a performing artist, then has 6 minutes 40 seconds to detail the death of his/her career in the most baroque/embarrassing/ironically appropriate manner imaginable. I can see such an object floating about in the world; it would explain a lot, actually.
(Whose career would you kill - and how, and why?)
...Er, is genre of hip-hop called grime. I mention because the effect is startling if you've never heard any.
The Raveonettes - The Christmas Song
The last of thewine Christmas music. Bloggers kept mentioning this one,
helvetius finally found someone who posted it... Basically it's one of those indiepop songs that sail right back up the river of time to ev'ry sha-la-la-la, ev'ry whoa-o-oah, please-please-mister-postman territory, all the while someone shaking a tambourine in the background to remind you it's Christmas. Appropriately enough only 2:13. Effing beautiful is what it is.
Boom Bass and Étienne de Crécy - Bit Torrent
French instrumental electro-house. I put it up and you're going to download it because it's called "Bit Torrent" (other track titles on this album include "Audio Galaxy", "Morpheus" and "Soul Seek"). Well, either that or you like French electro-house as much as I do. XD
Maeda Yuki - Sarasara no kawa
This is my Haruie songcall. ...Yeah, yeah, you were hoping to make it to the end of one single entry without Dreaded Japanese Novel Series content. Well, bite me. :P If I were making up genres I would call this "contemporary enka". One imagines it being used as the ending theme to a historical TV drama - but not one aired before the year 2000. Not much to say else, other than I like it very very much.

I love how the Raveonettes have, like, only one song, just with different levels of fuzz on top. *squishes them*
