Annie - Heartbeat

Much as I'm still amused - and I am still amused - that Pitchfork named my favorite song off the Annie album #1 single of the year (which btw, [livejournal.com profile] canis_m, I think bars you officially from claiming you don't have indie cred XD) ...wow, dude totally did not understand the lyrics to "Chewing Gum".

Why I like this song: the cymbal shivers at the beginning that send real sympathetic shivers up and down my spine, exactly as if I were in the situation the song describes. Feel my heartbeat, feel my heartbeat, she sings and at 0:45 suddenly you hear it - and then at 1:00, ROMANTIC DISCO DRAMA.

Why I like this song: it's happened to me. How about you?

Xmas music will be taken down tonight. Hope that's all right? Up til 24th but I've stuck it here: Christmas folder. Check again, might be something new up there. ^^;

Is it possible to hold off taking down at least the Jpop folder for another 12 hours or so? What with [livejournal.com profile] yuletide and everything else, I've been distracted. ^^;; I'm also on dial-up, so it's going to take a while for me to download the five or so songs I'd love to have.

Okay, so indie cred is something like unto a weird disease that I may have contracted without knowing it. Possibly from monkeys.

Pitchfork = ?

That top 50 list will probably give you a good idea of what they're about.

*peruses*

If this is not a prank, and there's really a song called "Who Could Win a Rabbit" by a band called Animal Collective, I need it.

This track was good, but....ohmigod, did it just end? It was too short! ARGH, this is what happens when I listen to pop disco diva tracks after listening to Underworld. My brain can't adjust.

Also, evil woman, I just read pitchfork and now I want to throw things at the monitor screen. Then again, I think pitchfork and you see eye to eye on the Brit, so XD

It is too short. XD I expect the Internet to cough up remixes/mashes shortly, just got a really ace one of "Chewing Gum" by that FakeID dude.

I can't really say PFperson and I see eye to eye on the Brit, he admits to irrational h4t3 and I never had anything of the sort. I just... didn't like her songs for a long stretch. XD

(I really need to renew my paid lj icons. Life is v. odd without. This convo is not the same without last night a dj saved my life.)

Remixes and mashes aren't ever the same as a long track from the onset, alas.

I was stretching or rather alluding to the comparison of Slave 4 U vs. Toxic. Heh. PF. I have to admit I can't really engage in assessment of the last 30 tracks. I'm not indie enough nor do I follow music enough to participate.

Back to heartbeat. Although it was a good song, if I'm left thinking the song was too short, I can't think of it as being a perfect pop moment, ala Regret.

Thanks for the Christmas jpop! I'm glad to see Daisuke to Ken no Kaimono Carol -- that song is SERIOUSLY amusing. XD XD (couldn't imagine Xmas without it)
