(I've got a copy of the Hierarchy of Pathetic Obsession with Japan up, for people who haven't seen it. I'd quibble with the order of some of the arrows on this chart, but another way of putting that is, I know enough about the pathetic Japan-obsession scene to quibble about this chart. So there's no winning. XD Also, I'm not sure that people in the lowest rung actually exist, so if you run into one at your East Asian Studies dep't let me know.)

Speaking of pathetic obsessions, GetBackers has kicked back into plot gear in the latest ShounenMag issues, not that I care. Well, that's not true - I care very much, but plot considerations are vastly overshadowed in my mind by how hawt all the characters look in their new outfits. Kazuki is back to the Chinese dresses slit up to here, now without any pants under (not that Ayamine was ever successful at pretending he cares that Kazuki is a boy, but he seems to have given up the attempt altogether...). It's so tragic that Juubei is blind.

Also, Maria! Things are looking up, folks.

Oh, watched Samurai Champloo episodes 6-8 last night. Yes, I'm behind. I haven't been watching the anime I've been mechanically downloading for weeks. I'll also point out for the nonce that I'm still watching this series raw, despite the fact that it's meta-chambara THAT FORCES ME TO FOLLOW PLOT IN JAPANESE-SUBTITLED DUTCH. So, uh, something.

Speaking of episode 6, what the shit was that!?

Am also reading the last few volumes of Earl Cain, finally. ^^; It showed up at the manga rental shop. It seems to me that it gets unbearably silly, but I dunno... I guess I feel obliged.

Weren't the last few chapters of Count Cain (or are they translating it as Earl Cain, now? o_o) terribly disappointing? They didn't feel chilling, they didn't even feel tragic, they were just there. At least Jezebel got a fair amount of screen time, says the world's sole Jezebel fan morosely.

If you think you're the world's sole Jezebel fan, you have obviously not met my flist. And yes, that was certainly the impression I received from summaries of the ending. ^^;

(I hope Toshiki's getting some mileage out of Kazuki's new dress, anyway. Lord knows I am.)
