Due today but admin is MIA? XD Well, I'll like to move this off my plate for one, so here it is. Provisorily f-locked until we all manage a proper simultaneous public release. Not so much a friends-list sneak preview as a "for mercy's sake tell me the hidden-layer script works in whatever arcane browser you're using":

http://www.kekkai.org/sabina/NnY/pmksoundtrack.php

I'm in IE6/WinXP, FWIW. x_x Suggestions and comments in this entry please!

IE6/Win98, and everything's working mint. *thumbs up* ^^;

(ah, now I wish I'd actually watched PMK so I could connect the songs with the series/fandom -- anyway, could be sold on this fantrack alone; am awfully fond of the Doves and Belle & Sebastian. ^^)

Watch it! Or better yet, read it (the manga trumps the anime by a fair margin). Wonderful series.

Well, glad someone's appreciating the mopey indie aspect anyhow. XD

Looks good in Mozilla Firefox running on XP -- bit plain, but one wouldn't want to take away from the music.

I'd originally thought to add images, but the scripting sucked down hours and I was in the end too lazy. XD *makes note to dl Firefox*

The page looks great, and the script seems to be working as it should on my comp, but then again, it's a windows 2000/IE6, so that's probably not very helpful, is it? >_<. Am d/ling like mad, because I absolutely adore your taste in music. And, oh, you have "brothers in arms" up there. So much love for that song!

Ah, Dire Straits. *g* Not my fave band of all time but I do like that song. I put it on after reading Mary Renault so I can have a proper wibble.

Are you going to watch/read PMK, by any chance? Because it's so totally worth it. :3

I've watched the anime already, and didn't like it at all. I thought the red-headed dude was annoying, and winced every time he came on screen, but stuck around for Souji/Hijikata. But in the last episode, their interaction seemed OOC (as ironic as that is), and I actually found myself wishing that they'd kept their relationship less blatant, instead of twisting the characters like that for what seemed like nothing more than fanservice.

But, if I hadn't watched the anime? Your soundtrack would totally convince me to do so.

Um, yeah.

*scurries away*

*weeps* Then you must read the manga. Seriously. I'll send what I have scanlated to you. It is so much better than the anime (which I haven't even finished watching, because I didn't want to be unduly influenced by the music), and Tetsu's not nearly as annoying.

As for the alleged fanservice, I... don't know what to say, apart from "but it's not twisting, the entire thing is like that". XD;; I mean, then you get Itou Kashitarou aka Mizuki's last reincarnation before this one, so...

I've heard from other people too that the manga's much better. So, thank you. :) I'll give it a try.

As for the alleged fanservice, I... don't know what to say, apart from "but it's not twisting, the entire thing is like that".

In the fanservice part, I wasn't referring to all the little scenes that Hijikata & Souji had together, where they're hinting at their relationship - I loved those. I was more referring to what happened in the last episode, when Souji starts coughing up blood and Hijikata runs to his side and puts Souji's head in his lap, and then just stays there doing nothing. Which, don't get me wrong, was very sweet to see and everything, but I couldn't help going "Buh? There are still these enemy samurai running around, you still haven't established control over the inn, there's information you have to collect and orders you need to give, and instead you're just going to sit there?" Like, yeah, that's probably what Hijikata would *want* to do, but they'd made such a big deal of him always following his duty before, and that scene seemed to fly in the face of all that.

I mean, then you get Itou Kashitarou aka Mizuki's last reincarnation before this one, so...

*blinks*

He can't be that scary. Can he?

I posted the scanlations links? Read it read it. *tugs at your sleeve*

The end of the anime. o_O Well, I haven't seen it, so no idea what they changed or didn't but - in the manga Hijikata and his troupe didn't arrive until after the fact, by which point Kondou and company had secured the premises and were carrying bodies out in between jostling for jurisdiction with the regular police force (who were understandably intimidated by his blood-covered heartiness). Hijikata asks for status, Kondou gives him a couple of sentences then something along the lines of, "He's out back, so go to him. You want to, don't you? *significant glance*" And Hijikata goes. ^^; Walking, and then running.

Itou Kashitarou: trust me, whatever you're picturing now, he's scarier. X_X

Works in both OS X 10.2 IE5.2 and Safari, though after closing the notes, the notes link scoots to the next line. Dunno whether that's intentional or its' my browsers.

Date: 2004-04-30 11:21 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] petronia.livejournal.com
It's not intentional, but IE6 does it too. :/ Not a make-or-break but I'll look into it.

Haha, as if this is remotely my script. ^^; I'm still trying to figure out why it works, and how I can get it to stop shunting the link to the next line break when I close the hidden div.

If the hiding doesn't work it's a js issue. All the php tags do is number each cut; if I didn't have so many I could've done it manually.

Mozilla/OS X likes it. Does that link-jumping thing but no big deal.

Opera 6.03, on the other hand, doesn't open them at all; it just takes you back to the top of the page. (But who uses Opera anyway? I just dug it out to check compatibility.)

From: [identity profile] petronia.livejournal.com
Opera 6 doesn't work? Lud love me. >_> I just uninstalled it the other day, believe it or not; needed to make way for Painter 7. Figured it wasn't entirely standards-compliant anyhow. (Though ironically I've got that "be nice to Opera 5" CSS hack in the stylesheet of half my layouts.)

Damn you, daaaaamn you

Expandable links seem to work for me on Mozilla/OSX.

Only halfway done DLing, but since I already have Ametora on CD I cheated--went and put on "Soramimi Bakari" and wound up ON THE FLOOR IN TEARS, no, really in tears god dammit thanks a lot.

Well, now you grok where "Haru no Tsuki" came from. ^^; (The fic narrowly missed being titled after the song, actually, with a snippet of lyric, but at the time I couldn't come up with a translation that conveyed the quality of the original. Thought of leaving it in the original non-fangirl-friendly Japanese but sense prevailed. ...'Course, then when I was HTMLing the download page for the soundtrack I googled up the romaji and hacked a translation in like ten minutes that's the most poetic thing I've written so far this year. Thus it goes. =_=)

If I picked any track with you in mind it's prolly the Bonnie Pink one. But even that's not really as happy as I thought, is it. ^^;

...The Bonnie Pink one's contradictory, isn't it? The way it's all "the here and now is what's important," but at the same time the narrator isn't able to stop looking backward.... I like it, but...maa. With the AU I'm determined to err on the side of stupidly happy, rather than bittersweet with croutons of angst.

The "Soramimi" translation is indeed very nice. Nice and PAINFUL.

I know... but I can't manage it myself. ^^; I've long ago resigned myself to the fact that I'm only going to be turning out angst for this series.

Oh, well, I'll see if I can't pull that mini-album together at least. XD I think FST should go semi-perpetual.
