Y'know, I have a photo from Shoujocon 2001 of me, Kim out of penal-tea.net ([livejournal.com profile] sumeragiskank) and her Shinsengumi tattoo. As these things go anime fangirl-dom is a small and muddy pond.

Didn't I have something useful to say...? Oh, yeah, music again:

The Cure - Kyoto Song

Often these days I read a series and it asks for music, way before I start considering fic or pairings or meta or anything like that. Has something to do with the overall vibe of the thing resonating with a specific band's style; if there are lyrical correspondences I'll only find them afterward. Nana's was Love Psychedelico, GetBackers's was Elastica, and Peace Maker's turns out to be... The Cure. (Speaking of Robert Smith.) Most specifically, this song - not just because of the title. Whereupon I was immensely disgruntled to find that I didn't technically have a copy of it anywhere, my history of listening to the Cure being mostly based on borrowing other people's albums. I ended up making a special trip to HMV to score a 10$ copy of "Head On The Door". XD;

Threw an instrumental version at [livejournal.com profile] luckykitty the other day. I can't tell you if the lyrics make me think of anything specifically (well, maybe Suzu); it really is about vibe.

Drabbles! Come, there were way more people last time? XD Ah vell, you have from now until mid-December anyhow.

...Meanwhile I've busted out all my very gayest synthpop, some of which has lain unspun for years. Particularly the Erasure. But I suppose when the story starts spiraling into horrible tragedy, I'll need something darker.

Not that Erasure isn't, y'know, tragic.

To me, Get Backers is most strongly associated with Radiohead.

Yeah, I don't know either. I mean. RADIOHEAD?

I've been trying to get into the Cure lately. XD I made puu send me about 6 Cure songs and we'll see if I like them. ^^

Totally spam comment, but, but, I have just this to say:

I hate you all. I came across Ikushima Miya's quintet of Shinsengumi yaoi manga yesterday, and fell in love with Hijikata/Okita (not to speak of Kondou/Yamanami, etc. =_=) all over again.

...to iu wake de, PMK no torrento no URL wo oshiete-kudasaimasen~ka?

*stabs gut* >___>

There's something like seven groups subbing the thing. ^^; Pick whichever off the animesuki series page, (http://www.animesuki.com/series.php/267.html) dunno if you have a preference...

(I've been watching AnimeOne and AF-F.)

I have been so good at the sl0ring this round. XD Clearly the words "Shinsengumi ghei" carry much weight with the populace.

And the thing is, when you get back I might actually have the first book of the quartet (not quin, sorry) to show you! If it gets past the censors (quote Kino operator: "They donch like gay, lah.")

Kondou/Yamanami. Not very bish, but damn cute. The manga itself has enough Hijikata/Okita to tide you over for a month. Barring withdrawal symptons, 'course. XD
