I'm going to have to get baskets for all my bottommost shelves. So far Alan's only tried to eat publications that have photos of babies on them -- including the Tiny Tot to Toddler brick -- but I'm sure he'll get around to trying the rest. =_=

I don't know about his sitting posture. He still slumps and cranes his neck forward in the high chair and the stroller, let alone on the floor. We took him to get his passport photo taken yesterday and I had to prop him up with my hands on his tummy and back. I only see him keep his back straight when he's standing. Instead of sitting, he would rather get into these odd yoga poses, like three-legged downward dog, and use his free hand to play! The other little girls at yoga class sit up, so I hope that inspires him. He usually has a breakthrough after he's had the chance to observe other babies. And he's happy to be told "good job": he definitely understands that phrase. He has set responses himself, sounds that he always makes when I do a particular thing, such as sit his penguin plush on his stomach, but I don't know what he means by them.

I still bring him into bed with me at dawn for a feed and a doze, more for enjoyment's sake than anything else. Lazy mornings'll be a luxury once he starts daycare. We usually horse around a bit, roll about and sing songs, before getting on with things. I wasn't sure if he was ticklish before, but now I think his stomach is ticklish. He'll really giggle if I stick my face in his tummy. But he doesn't try to get away, just retaliates by pulling my hair and glasses.

Food: yesterday he ate mashed yam and cereal happily, today he refused it. But ate slices of fresh tomato and chopped roast chicken and shrimp (I made a paella, for the first time in years). He doesn't just slurp it down either -- he munches. But really he was whiny all evening, because I was cooking and not paying sufficient attention to him... he's a lot happier when I sit on the couch and hold him on my lap to watch TV.
