Thought of the day 1: fanfiction as a way of fixing up fandom. When you see so much crap that you become convinced it's never going to be done properly if you don't do it yourself.

(I need a title for my IniD fic. I know what happens in it, but I haven't a clue what to call it. Not even a working title. I also need to get over the fact that molesting Takumi makes me feel evil, whereas molesting Schuldich makes me feel warm and fuzzy.)

Thought of the day 2: "coded-female uke" is not necessarily a bad thing. IMO most ukes as written by most competent yaoi authors are coded-female, and a good number of the semes as well: just that "female" in this context doesn't have to mean "twinky helpless weepy teenaged white mage girl". People who'd never think to make the equation in real life assume that these are the only female characteristics one can code into a character in fanfic, which clouds the issue and puzzles me considerably.

(I'm listening to Creed's Euphony track as much as Creed is. It just doesn't show.)

So I take it back. There *is* good IniD fic in English, just that it's all PWP of the highest never-explain-never-complain order. And there's not a lot of it. And it's never for the obvious pairings. So I read Japanese fic. So... my fic reads like Japanese. It's got that slightly kilted Japanese quality to it, where events derive one from the other according to *some* emotional logic, but you're not quite sure what - isn't the moon blue tonight, I love you, etc. Possibly this is cool; possibly this means that I suck. The roses are there because I needed an excuse to use the word 'glassine'. I think it's a nifty word. Glassine glassine glassine.

(Every January I write a story about someone freezing their butt off in the snow. Except for uhh the year I wrote MitM, which is about a heat wave. See Sabina. See Sabina in winter denial.)

I advise you not to read this if you're not actually a rabid IniD yaoi fan. The WAFF may kill you, and you wouldn't even know *why*.

spoilers for vol. 16, and I still don't have a working title dammit )

My sister, she tells me the Hymn of the Fayth is an acrostic. No, wait, you don't call that an acrostic. But it's a cipher. It's a little poem in archaic Japanese, written vertically right->left and sung horizontally left->right, exhorting the Fayth to endless prayer and dreaming in Yevon's name.

...I have something vaguely percolating in the back of my mind here, to do with the persecution of early Christianity and how Bevelle == Rome. But I'm too sleepy for it to make sense.
