(...for values of fic == wanking. I'm considering y'all warned.)

I wrote - get this - a page and a half of The Berchtesgaden Debriefing tonight. Really. My procrastination on the homework front reaches a hysterical apogee of creative desperation, or perhaps desperate creativity. XD But at least I don't want to rip up what I wrote this time! And at least it was a linking page. That and some edits here and there, a couple more paragraphs' worth of soliloquy to wrap up, and the logical section may extend to the next NC17 scene before I decide it's fit to post. (Yes, just to annoy you, I write the makeout sessions first. Then I write stuff to link them up. It's the only way to keep a handle on the suspense, if there's going to be sex at all. No, I won't post the makeout sessions by themselves. I have *standards* to uphold, damn your eyes.)

The fact that I felt compelled to hook up an IV of cheezy 1995 pop songs as a writing aid... well, that's one for the shrink's couch.

What cheers me the most about this exercise is that the dialogue is snappy again. I've always resented the dialogue of tBD for not falling into place the way my dialogue should; it's *descriptions* that are supposed to give me problems. The trick, I gather, is not to insist as much that Crawford be a prig. o_O This is a surprise, since he obviously *is* a prig. But if I let him talk just a *very* little bit like Tseng**, somehow it all falls into place...

("Do you know why street rats are street rats, Schuldich? Because they can't cope. Psychological issues. It's the story of a generation.")

**Tseng switches between two levels of speech in my fic: Shinra and !Shinra. It's the latter I mean, of course.

Actually, I know what it is. It's a reaction against the fact that I've spent the last week being tempted to drop 9.50$CAN on this month's edition of Musik for the bonus CD. Heck, for the New Order remix, when you get down to it. I suspect I'd like the rest of the CD as well, but I'm never quite certain because... well, because British music mags tend to describe bands like this: "Starsailor's great; they're the new Coldplay. What's Coldplay? Well, they're the new Travis. Travis is the new Radiohead. Radiohead..." and by the fourth or fifth recursion with no base case in sight, my brain chokes from a stack overflow. (And, y'know, it occurs to me just now that I named all these bands off the top of my head because they've *played* here. Recently. Is that normal for North America? Or is it one of those "special" things about Montreal again, like the big hit single of summer '99 being French/Senegalese reggae, and the fact that we've apparently never gotten over Supertramp?)

Boy, that was random and non-ficlog-worthy.
