Fangirlism, which is not miserabilism
Sep. 10th, 2003 12:15 amI am. So. Dead from fangirl. Seriously, I can feel it burning through me like a foreign substance in my bloodstream. The only recreational activity I have patience for that's not GB-related (and eating out with my friends is GB-related, because I frenetically fangirl-sparkle at Tania and she bears it all with amusement) is reading Motoni Modoru, which makes for a very nice change but doesn't help the estrogen levels.
(Motoni Modoru has got to be one of the smartest people working in comics today. By which I mean comics-at-large-inclusive-of-but-not-limited-to-manga. I won't say anything facile and untrue like "she's the female Grant Morrison", but... something along those lines. Once I find the proper comparison. XD Seriously, am such fangirl. See?)
If there were 36 hours to my day instead of the garden-variety 24, I'd corner the market on Kagami x Himiko rivalsmut. Really, I would. This because IMHO fannish het is better the kinkier it is: Shido x Madoka wouldn't do for anything edgier than WAFF. Sakura x MakubeX is rather more lively, due to the oneesan/shota vibe; and Kadzuki x Ren, which when you think logically about what actually happened turns out to be a massive genderfuck misunderstanding, Ren being teh cute hacker baby-dyke. Anyhow I've always thought I'd write het in exactly the same way as I do BL, and leave it to the reader to decide whether the gender of the participants makes a difference to the dynamic. It doesn't for me in my head, so I don't think it has to. I think in most stories out there it does, though, because the author isn't able to see/write het in the same way as BL in the first place.
Also because Himiko is very sexy, but Ban isn't good at bringing out that side of her. The fact that he calls her a virgin all the time might have something to do with it. ^^;
Note to new people who have friended me: this is atypical. I usually talk more about... what do I talk about? ^^; Books and music, I suppose, and food and shopping expeditions. Naught of more interest than the fangirling, when you get down to it.

Date: 2003-09-10 08:22 am (UTC)Kadzuki is such teh p1mp, there's no getting around it... Speaking of which, he fought Raitei the first time they met, didn't he? The unshown part of that scene must have been interesting. (I love Fuuga!Kadzuki. This cold-hearted terror-inducing gang leader who prances around Mugenjou in a pink cheongsam. XD)

Date: 2003-09-10 06:10 pm (UTC)I get the feeling sensei-tachi sit around making up whacked-out pairings of their characters and snickering over them.
"i don't know what to do for the next story arc"
"let's play 'connect-the-dots' for a new pairing!"
"ok."
"but remember, we have to do a lot of drinking first."
"....well, yeah."
