msmanna. ^_^ (First sign of trouble today - brain snarfled briefly at idea of writing fic and handing it back to the creator. But hey. Also I'm leaving this computer in, like, five minutes, so the rest will wait until later this evening.)
I don't even know if I really think this. But it would be interesting.

In the years dating back to Lissa, Warrick had occasionally caught himself thinking of his life as a game. He took initiatives and calculated risks, because he was playing: at entrepreneur, at leader, eventually at CEO, standing in impeccable evening dress amid other industry-gala attendees. The vision and will to make it happen were real, the payoff merely the pleasant result of navigating a new level. It was like the sim, in a way.
Then there was Toreth, who taught him some games could be almost too real to bear. He had never realised how badly the lesson was needed.

Date: 2003-07-07 04:56 pm (UTC)Oh, I like it. Thank you.
I don't know if it's what you intended, but it made me think not just of their game and Warrick being drawn out of the sim by Toreth, but of Marian Tanit's death. Not sure why.
(And I'm sorry for asking, sort of -- it is rather forward, not to mention incredibly egotistical. But I'm very glad I did.)

Speaking of Administration matters - Manna-san, your mailing list thingy is on the fritz I think. I've tried to sign up, but I just get this:
No such list mannazone
There currently are no publicly-advertised mailman mailing lists on lists.easy-list.com. To visit the info page for an unadvertised list, open a URL similar to this one, but with a '/' and the right list name appended.
::makes little sad sounds::

Alas, yes, it is. Unfortunately, not only is it on the fritz, but I'm not installed as the list owner so I can't do anything about it. I've raised a support request and I know Bonnie and Robin know about it, so I've got my fingers crossed it should be back soon. Meanwhile, I should probably note it on the site.

Date: 2003-07-07 10:10 pm (UTC)(Don't be sorry! It's like any other fandom, for me - what else would I call it? - just I have to shake off the Pavlovian reflex that says don't let the creators find out or they'll sue ya. It does get ingrained.)

Date: 2003-07-07 11:06 pm (UTC)Btw, these don't seem like drabbles at all, more like extremely short fiction in the way of Neil Gaiman and various Year's Best Fantasy authors. Brief but filling. ^_^

Date: 2003-07-08 12:20 pm (UTC)Gosh, aren't I clever.
People find all kinds of interesting things in the Administration. I try to just nod sagely. :-)
BTW, would it be possible for you to unlock the drabble? I'd like to link from my LJ, if that would be okay with you.
