Smooth sailing. Alan's now sitting tripod OK and no longer at risk of tipping over. Regretfully, however, his number one "thing" this week is blowing raspberries. He does it everywhere, against every surface, from the moment he wakes up until he goes to bed. It's gross and I shouldn't encourage him, but sometimes I can't help laughing.

Number two thing is trying to squeeze milk out of my breast with his fingers. :P Again, shouldn't laugh, but... Alan himself is intentionally trying to get me to laugh sometimes, I think, or he acts happy and cute instead of whining, in order to be picked up. But if it's an act he can't keep it up for more than a few seconds.

I'm starting to be able to play peekaboo with him by ducking behind a corner. When I reappear he giggles and gives chase, which sometimes works to distract him from whatever else he's doing, like overturning rubbish bins. He's also eating enough, and quickly enough, to constitute structured meals: coconut yogurt with baby cereal and fruit for breakfast, "quiche" with a side of mashed yam for lunch/dinner. He will grab and bite into any fruit or vegetable that smells nice, and has eaten several petunias. No digestive upset, but some hiccups -- not that it seemed to bother him at all, but this week he went 3 days without pooping.

Anyway; by writing once a week I can keep on top of milestones, but it's hard to describe the subjective experience of being with a baby and watching him grow and change. One for the newsletter.

* My mother's baked "quiche," which is chopped spinach barely held together with beaten egg. I think Alan likes the taste of spinach better than that of egg.

Now I wonder what petunias taste like...
