It feels like things are moving faster again, after a few chill weeks. Gave Alan a quarter banana with baby cereal for dinner and it was wild how quickly he demolished it -- he's way better at taking the spoon than he was two weeks ago. Think I'll try making him an omelette tomorrow morning, and an Instant Pot chicken congee... I keep saying I have to give him solid meals more systematically, and instead I've been lackadaisically feeding him bits of whatever I'm eating as long as it's appropriate, but now he's nearly six months so. ^^; I've also been less than strict about sleep training, though objectively it has been going well: while he wakes up and cries once or twice a night, he's able to go back to sleep by himself rapidly and doesn't seem any the worse for it the next day, so I've just done the lazy thing and let him "cry it out" -- and on at least one night he did indeed sleep in his crib from 9pm to 5am. But my breasts really ached. And last night we went to bed together, but woke each other so much I banished him to his crib at midnight (he cried), only to take him back at 4:30am.

He's outgrown his newborn bathtub, pretty much, so my parents bought him a bigger one. Alan's neutrally good with baths, he likes playing with water and doesn't get upset even if it gets in his eyes, but he's now decided he really hates the step of getting out of the bath and being dried off. My guess is because it's chilly; he doesn't calm down until he's cuddled and dressed.

As for crawling, it definitely seems like he's close. He's able to prop himself up on his tummy and play with activity centers. He can use his arms to spin and slide on his stomach and roll over strategically and is generally on the move. He likes to examine the underside of his bouncers and how they seem to fit together. It's almost impossible to keep him still on his changing mat, or corralled onto his play area. Still not sitting up by himself, not even tripod, but his posture is improving every day too. He really loves the "stand up" game (standing in my lap while being held under the armpits), and "this is the way the lady rides."

What an advanced and sweet baby! <33333

I briefly did baby foods starting at 6 mo and my mom did some kind of steamed egg, but pretty soon after that it was "whatever she is willing to try" so I think you're just fine XD It'll train his palate to be open to lots of things!

Bean loves lemons too. She'll go to town on a wedge and she loves drinking juice out of those plastic lemon/limes. I DO NOT UNDERSTAND but hey it gets her vitamin C!

It sounds like you're starting solids well. :) Don't wait too long or else he might decide he just wants to nurse forever instead, haha.

I think CIO is a misunderstood method. People think it means you are letting your baby cry all night without comfort. Both my boys were/are great sleepers (though we co-slept only very rarely). My philosophy was: are their immediate needs met? Are they hungry? (#1 nursed 1-2x a night until around 9m; #2 stopped at about 5m.) Dirty diaper? Genuinely distressed or just annoyed that no one is playing with them? Then leave them for a couple minutes and see if they sort it out. If not, then go in.

My point is, I don't think you're being lazy about it. :)
