Apartmental
Oct. 1st, 2011 08:09 pmOK so, the most important point insofar as other people are concerned is that I'm no longer doing Chicago in October, because I spent that money on furniture. ^^;; Which is expensive! I'm thinking now of doing that run in February, for my birthday, unless ppl tell me February in Chicago is truly miserable (it can't be more miserable than Montreal, anyway).
I now have a double bed and nightstand, a worktable (the kind with glass you can put a flat light under for drawing) and swivel chair, a sofa (in a gentleman's-clubby brown leather that looks forgiving of Sherlockian stains), one of those 2x4 IKEA bookcases (as a side table for vinyl records), a slow cooker, a rice cooker, and an electric kettle. Wireless, and tea. That is enough to be going by. XD
Other stuff to acquire:
* bookshelves (in the bedroom)
*shelving units (for the living room - have to buy everything else, then see what space is left)
* coffee table #
* carpet(?) to go under the coffee table #
* beanbags / floor seating #
*closet storage units / boxes
* clothes rack (to hang one's week's worth of outfits)
* coat stand and shoe rack (by the door) #
* jewelry organizer #
*folding rack for drying laundry on
* kitchen trolley
* microwave
* dinnerware,pots
*vacuum cleaner (I want a Roomba! It is 2010s FFS a household cleaning robot is the least one can expect of late Capitalism)
* big corkboard/whiteboard
* folding chairs (for balcony/guests)
* mirrors (several) #
*shower curtain
* candle holders / vases / silk plants or whatever for the corners # (I don't like taking care of real plants, and the light is not ideal anyway)
* cushions #
* record player and speakers
* maaaybe a barbecue
Dark brown/black, wood, chrome, wrought iron, leather/suede, glass. Geometric accents in turquoise, grey-green, bright red. Stuff marked with a # can be a little... weirder? Like a jewelry organizer, so I can sort out my 341,088 necklaces, I keeping imagining one of those Buddhist statues with a lot of arms. XD; I wouldn't want a coffee table that is just a square table, anyway, that is depressing. Once everything else is settled I will probably commission some frameable art from mah homies. I like Murakami Takashi/Kaikai Kiki stylee detailed pop art, the kind that you have to stare at for a while before realizing it is geeky/disturbing.
I should start sorting out my glassware and whatnot but I think I'll catch up on Penguindrum instead, since I've been avoiding spoilers for two days now. = =
