3 – For each of the fandoms from day two, what were your favorite characters to write?

This meme is designed for ppl who do more than write one story per canon before moving on, isn't it? ...I'll limit this to fandoms where I've actually produced more than a couple of pieces.

VampChron: ...erm. Armand, I think. I wasn't so much writing fanfic at the time as I was engaging in these odd little method acting exercises. My experience of the thing was very tied up with a concurrent obsession with the Italian Cinquecento. I did a lot of drawings - perspective exercises with one vanishing point, two vanishing points - columns and chequerboard pavings and chiaroscuro in the distance, trying to reproduce what Marius's paintings would have looked like. XD; Even the Mary Sue was more about Armand's art collection than it was about the characters.

...I just realized. That Sherlock thing I was poking at? About Moriarty's art collection? I really do keep iterating on the same plots.

The great big crossover: I liked writing Kurama in that one; I identified with him a lot. Yui snuck up on me, I think because the real life parallels with the Yui-Miaka relationship (when it's healthy) were too evident not to warp the story - this was when my stories still got warped into paths of least resistance.

FF7: the Turks, clearly. Everyone likes writing Reno. To this day I have no idea why Rufus ended up as one of my characters. I guess he is posh and blond and apt to say bitchy things??

Weiss Kreuz: there are ppl who don't even write WK stories; they write Schwarz stories. So... yeah.

Vagrant Story: made an executive decision that I would rather steal all the characters for origfic later on down the line rather than write fanfiction. (......D'you think Matsuno ever read Dorothy Dunnett? I would tentatively place money on this.)

GetBackers: I find it a lot, and I mean a lot easier to write from Ban's POV than Ginji's. So, of course, I wrote way more Ginji POV. The other one is Toshiki, of course.

Hikaru no Go: Hikaru and Akira. My interest in the other characters falls off steeply from the centre, actually. XD;

Prince of Tennis: eventually I'll repurpose Fuji (fandom!Fuji?) for origfic too. Yuuta was a lot of fun to write - on paper I wouldn't have thunk it. Hyoutei is vivid as an ensemble, but none of the other teams are, and I don't know why.

Mirage of Blaze: these were all sketches, when you get down to it - fabric swatches to match walls that never got painted. There is a great deal more of the Chiaki story, but that thing's as good as origfic.

Bleach: almost everyone in Bleach is fun to write. Why is that, I wonder? I have a distinctive Ichigo voice, but - like my Hikaru voice - it's a post-facto rationalization.

GitS: I'm kind of obsessive about Motoko. TBH I just have this... thing?... for female military officers/knights/etc. and to a lesser degree for male ones. Nothing to do with uniforms, whatever it is. I have a kind of pure empathy for Aral Vorkosigan XD;; Pretty sure this is Sherlock Holmes' problem too, but he'd jump off a building before admitting anything of the sort.

JoJo: again, almost everyone in JoJo is fun to write. They are just a hilarious bunch of wackjobs. I think this was my best fandom in terms of enjoying the moment-by-moment writing process and not rolling around on the carpet in agony or drinking myself to a stupor or whatever. I've always wanted to write more Dio; at this point I can sorta do Mista on autopilot mode, so.

Viewfinder: Takaba was where it got through to me that I couldn't write the shounen protag types without diverging from canon, and just went ahead and owned it.

Other characters: Jack from Yukikaze. (Another guy, like Ban, where I didn't feel like I had to hold part of my mental context back in order to stay in POV.) Larsa from FFXII was a lot of fun. Sherlock, whose POV is a fractal rabbit hole - when I tried writing him it just zoomed into deeper and deeper detail on some bit of a wall mural and forgot to contain any action.

I'm getting tired, so signing off. XD; Drabble requests still open here! I am writing the fills, believe it or not.

It is, absolutely. In fact it's a sign that his POV is too congenial to mine: in and of itself it's like being on drugs. XD;

You mean he also has a thing for brusque women in positions of power?

No, he has a thing for soldiers. Like Aral Vorkosigan. XD
