1) So that was quite the snowstorm, even for Montreal! Thank goodness for telework. Let's all of us in affected areas take a moment to experience my favorite (no irony) thing about winter, namely the dazzling white ski-slope light that reflects off the city on a blue-skied day after a snowstorm. Pure brightness without heat. There's nothing quite like it.

2) I feel like I should mention somewhere and at some point that I finally read Nana vol.21. XD;; Avoidant, moi, never. The state of Yazawa Ai's health is worrying - I mean, it's been two years - but there's something blackly funny/appropriate about the fact that the story screeched to a stop here. Life imitating art... I'd calculated according to the clues given previous to *heavily telegraphed spoiler* that the flash-forwards were taking place in mid to late 2008, and this volume puts it forward by a year or two. And she must've planned that!

3) Games, LJ? Seriously?

Seriously?

Have been amused at this with Charmian over on DW. Check that crossover point!

Do you have the chapter numbers? Last one I read up to was #82, and I didn't want to start again until a few more chapters had built up, becuase that was a hella unpleasant place to be stuck in (not that life is ever all roses for the Nana cast, but...)

Dude, that's all she wrote, she's been ill since '09. XD; In fact if you've read up to #82 that means there's more out than I thought, I'm pretty sure vol.21 only goes up to #80.

On reflection (it's been a while XD) I probably meant I'd read #81, and #82 was next in line, apart from that pesky not-existing business. You'd think #81 would be collected in the volume if the manga's been on hiatus that long, though, so maybe there was some kind of irregularity in the numbering.

I periodically check [livejournal.com profile] blackstones for updates on Yazawa-sensei. I are sad ;__; (I am even *sadder*, though, when I read fans complaining that she's being lazy and really needs to get back to the series. DON'T BE JERKSSSSS)

I know right!! Because clearly we are entitled to have our manga if and when we want it.

That being said I think it's partially the way health problems go unspecified for privacy reasons, in Japan - remember something very like happening with Yami no Matsuei. In the West, if you have a "legit" medical issue you say so, otherwise it's assumed to be substance abuse (which is not "legit") or because you're being an unmotivated bum (depression and burnout aren't "legit" either).

Steve Jobs got a lot of flak for being reluctant to discuss his health issues in public, over the past few years.

Yes!! And I want my manga NAO!

Huh! I hadn't thought of it that way, but that's a good point. I kinda assume for most people that if they don't say *why* they're unwell, it's... private! I often don't want people knowing my health problems-- and there are some really embarrassing ones out there!

This reminds me I have to seriously read the whole manga- I only watched the anime so far and random chapters from the manga!!

Random safdgsdagadg: I just remembered how few years back while loving madly Mirage of Blaze I found you and fumbling with your links I read one of your fan fictions, Rainshine (http://www.kekkai.org/sabina/NnY/fiction/others/rainshine.html) - it still is one of my favourites, 3 years later<3

(I've been lurking your post for ever now and I dunno why, always felt too shy to comment >.>)

Hi and nice to meet you! Please don't hesitate to comment, I don't bite. XD And ha, that's not a fic that most ppl know of (too obscure a canon) - I'm glad you enjoyed it.

*smiles and shakes your hand* I'll try- in fact only the beginnings are a bit tough for me :D

Canon/non-canon, famous pairing or the most obscure of all- that never stopped me from reading, I like even stories when I know nothing about the characters - as long as the writing is good and the story drives me in!
