I'd like to get hold of the movie John Galliano seems to have watched in lieu of what played in theatres: Sherlock Holmes Wrestling South China Sea Pirates In A Tub Of Jello. OTOH there were, like, ten dudes looking classy in actual normal suits there, and only a couple of them were wearing their underwear on the outside.

...Okay, non-facetiously, that was a pretty good Galliano outing, goddamn.

Oh yays, you like Tegan! I had the impression the fandom in general did not; I've only seen a few of her eps but found her my second favorite old-school Companion after Leela (the cavegirl. Who was awesome squared in the couple eps I saw her in.) (and I've never seen either Romana.)

Nyssa's main problem was that she wasn't getting enough nightly sexings from Tegan, as far as I could tell. Not enough privacy in the TARDIS bedrooms perhaps?

I like Tegan lots - can see why ppl wouldn't, obviously, but I just enjoy the relatively unimpressed/bitchy companions for some reason. XD;;

The companion I've found that the old-school fandom dislikes is Adric, which is ironic because the name of the awards the newsgroup rec.arts.drwho gave out for a long time is the Adric Awards (http://www.fortunecity.com/tatooine/forbidden/392/adrics/adrics.html). Of course, some of them you don't want to win.

It's the "air stewardess" uniform, isn't it? j/k I swung between liking/annoyance with Tegan when I was 10 or whatever, no idea how I'd respond to her now. I totes cried when she left, though.

God I love Romana, I buy into all the stupid fanon about how she becomes President of Gallifrey (OR WAS THAT CANON, can't remember lol). Best part is iirc she starts off being assigned as Scully to the Doctor's Mulder. XDDD

Adric: iknorite, he could've been, like, ~winsome bishounen~ but instead he's just super annoying, argh, such a waste. 3 ducklings at once is really too many, though.

I like the uniform but also the LOL EIGHTIES stuff she was wearing afterward; admittedly because the style cycle is at the precise point where she looks fashion-forward again. XD;; (IDK if she lost her job after all *omg spoilerz* but she could trufax take up fashion design, she has a talent for draughtsmanship. o_o) Similarly, I find it impossible to read Sarah Jane other than as a certain type of vintage-shop quirky-cute indie, even though I know intellectually that her clothes were new. It doesn't help that she looks the epitome of a Belle and Sebastian cover girl.

I'm torn about Fanon President Romana... on the one hand it's awesome, on the other I don't want her to be stuck in the Lock or ded by Rassilon or whatever nonsense in the current continuity. XD;; He left her in an alternate universe, yes, that was what happened? NOT THAT I SENSE A PATTERN OF FAIL HERE OR ANYTHING

Sororial unit thinks it's unfair that the opportunity for great self-actualization via adventure thru time and space is seemingly open only to lissome young ladies from the British Isles, and that at the very least winsome young gentlemen from selfsame Isles ought to get a look-in.

RE: winsome young gentlemen, yeah but can you imagine what would happen now if, in the context of NuWho--not that Moffat would ever--they brought in a uniform-clad schoolboy of approx. hotness level of, say, Dan Radcliffe? Esp. given apparent (?) nerdy young professor vibe of Eleven? HEADS WOULD SPLODE okay maybe just mine would. I don't think they could ever do it, not without also having a gurl companion at the same time to defuse the situation (as was always done in Old). And I suppose higher-ups at the Beeb think girls wouldn't watch the show if there weren't a girl character to identify with. Ha. Hahaha.

I knooowww times have changed particularly since NuWho has drawn a line under Companion = potential makeouts. It's kind of unfair, though, I mean does it have to be about sexytimes. Dunno how others see it but Five's vibe with his underaged wards is so, so, so not sexytimes. (This may be me and my actual childhood science day camp experiences coming into play. In a way Monitor-oniisan feels more of an authority figure to me than the other versions of the Doctor. =_=) But by all means have a gurl for great defusement especially if she is Tegan

I remember being at a con years ago (I was maybe all of 10) and seeing Tom Baker (4th) talking about having just begun the role and finding himself in a taxi with an old gent who was very disappointed in the new Doctor and didn't realize it was *him*. The guy wouldn't stop going on about the 3rd, saying " 'E's so *elegant*!" over and over.

Speaking of intersections of fashion and fandom, has anyone brought up the chanel pistol shoes (http://images.google.com/images?hl=en&source=hp&q=chanel+gun+shoes&gbv=2&aq=0&oq=chanel+gun+&aqi=g2) (circa 2009?) wrt Bayonetta?  None of the articles I've read mentioned them at all!  It disappointed me greatly!

As companions, I have an even higher regard for Sarah Jane now than I did when I saw her with Four. I was hot for Romana, although her first incarnation was a bit intimidating. Her second was more my speed when I was 25.

I didn't bother to mention what the statements pertained to XD but I'm working off this theory that the Doctor isn't asexual (although I strongly suspect Sex is not the big deal on Gallifrey it is on Earth), but that he is various inventive/entertaining flavours of unsexable. As in, attractive but I wouldn't hit it. XD;;

(FTR, Nine is "PTSD...did I mention PTSD" and Ten is "that dude who serially dates cos as soon as he's alone his cloud of neediness rises up and cuts off his air".)
