Thien, Val - thanks for your cards!! They'd arrived before New Year's, actually, I've just been very remiss. ♥

I've been uploading fics to my AO3 account, starting with those that for one reason or another were never archived elsewhere and have otherwise disappeared down the tubes of my LJ. So check out the link, who knows. XD; It's taking me a lot longer than it should because I keep stopping to read stuff I'd totally forgotten about. Remember "Trapped In The Closet" with Rukia as R. Kelly? Neither did I!

(There's one more biggie to go - 20 Facts About Yumichika, out of Bleach, which I never posted properly at all. Not that it's complete... maybe I should change it to one of those Five Times He Did And One Time He Didn't structures.)

The tagging/organizational system works excellently, but the real killer app here is the uploader, which does a beautiful job of cleaning up copy-paste from Word and HTML. (It doesn't like to centre my apostrophe dividers, but nothing a bit of coding can't fix.)

Doing this makes me think that a real Decade's Top Music list from me would have to take into account the tracks I write from. Just going down the list of the fourteen pieces I've uploaded, for instance:

Brian Eno, On Land (Ambient 4)
Karen Carpenter, "Superstar"
* Feist, "Inside And Out"
Gino Paoli, "Senza Fine" - there are English lyrics to this btw, who knew?
Pizzicato Five, "Catchy (Towa Tei Voltage Unlimited Catchy)"
* Bohren & der Club of Gore, "Kleinerfinger"
* David Sylvian, "Cover Me With Flowers"
* Chara, "Private Beach (A Scenery Like Me Version)"
* BoA, "Next Step"
* Supreme Beings of Leisure, "Strangelove Addiction"

Just a different view, I guess.

There were more bits to the Yumichika fic? :D Awesome, I always loved that one.

There were! Not enough to make up a 20 things, a 10 things maybe. XD I may go ahead and finish it since I know what happens in the scenes that are missing.

I see why everyone says AO3 is a joy for the writer and a bitch for the reader. Text jumps, text overlaps, and what do all those funny pictures at the left mean?

beta archive is beta...standard issues apply, including the one about usability problems not being fixed if the programmers don't know it's a problem.

The pictures are the basic ratings/warnings system! I know, I eyerolled as well, but it turns out to be not that difficult to learn.

...The one big problem with it right now is that it doesn't support IE. XD;;;

If you click on a "sort by" twice, it reverses the order! That's kind of cool. Like the mouse-over text on the warnings, it's something the archive doesn't tell you how to do, but that you will probably figure out on your own if you use computers a lot.

I also really like way all the chapters of a story appear on one page with the text divider... this is one place where ff.net might be kinder to readers (compared to authors) than AO3, though, because you can't get 100+ comments for a forty-chapter story where each chapter is, like, 500 words anymore. On the other hand, the comment field is right there on the page...

This archive is really nice. The warnings and instructions are still overwritten, though.
