Behind closed doors
Oct. 9th, 2007 06:02 pm(I'll run out of Patrick Wolf-related stuff to post in a week or so, don't worry XD, but) I linked this one Youtube clip for Bing and figured I should write up the context, since it's interesting.
There's this Dutch TV show (or maybe channel) called 3VOOR12 that's more or less dedicated to indie music, including techno, hiphop, etc. - the same people behind the Luisterpaal streamer, incidentally, that thing salvaged my week a couple of times when I couldn't download. One recurrent special they do involves filming a visiting artist/band from close up as they perform a song in the service elevator of their venue or hotel, while the elevator is moving (and unsuspecting third parties occasionally attempt to get in XD;;). Results lean heavily toward acoustic guitar, but not always.
Patrick Wolf
CocoRosie
The Kooks, Part 1 | Part 2 (covering "Crazy", natch)
Colin Meloy out of The Decembrists
...I've just discovered that 3VOOR12 has their own Youtube channel, whence the following:
Black Francis
Iron & Wine
The Shins
And more besides. If one successfully navigates their website (http://3voor12.vpro.nl/exclusief/ ought to work) there are others, including one of Malajube - they managed to fit all the band members with their instruments except the drummer who was reduced to pounding in time on the lift's sheet-metal walls. XD;
If I ever revisit Amsterdam I want to go to the Paradiso. XD

Studying for tomorrow's economics midterm; vetting SSBB submissions. Owing people mail, must get to that - also signing up for the holiday gift posts that are starting to appear on my flist. XD Think I'll open up the scope this year as I'm not really in a writing mood and never manage to complete more than half the requests at the best of times. Probably there will be the option of personalized mix CDs, maybe drawings if I'm up for it. Objets d'art, yanno (not that I don't do this with the drabbles, vellum paper and all).
That will be a different post, though. XD Will go ahead and make
getbacksubrosa this week too, with a deadline around end-November.
