Summer mixtape

Not so much my Italy mix as the mix I made while in Italy. When the train was too shaky to write postcards I'd stare out the window and fiddle with the sequencing. *g* Basically it's a formal exercise in (re)contextualization: eight artists on heavy rotation in my player, two tracks each.

Notes on the music. "Sound And Vision" is probably the happiest pop song ever written about, er, catatonic depression. "Os Novos Yorkinos" features Sabina Sciubba from Brazilian Girls. The Lali Puna tracks come from a double album of remixes helvetius gave me just before I left (I only had time to listen to half). I'm years late on the Lily Allen tip but she's just now making the rounds of the friends for whom she is the Voice of a Generation (tm). One of the tracks (not here) on Ulrich Schnauss's Far Away Trains Passing By is called "Nothing Happens In June", which I sincerely hope will be the case.

Er, speaking of the rukawa mix... I once had the 1.0 but lost it with some previous laptop.  I've mostly reconstructed it, but whenever I found a track for "Uhm Jung Hwa - Chodae" (a track I particularly liked) it never jived with what I remembered. o.O  I don't have that anymore either, but I grabbed it from someone who had the whole album, so do you know if the version you used was special at all or something? o.O
