petronia: (shh not a word)
[personal profile] petronia
Hilariously enough it turns out that Pucci prints are the look of the season. I would seriously like to know how/why that works, because I'm only consciously aware of picking up fashion cues from manga (not necessarily recent) and this is like the fifth time it's happened. There's even a bunch of actual Emilio Pucci frocks and things from two seasons back at Winners (...) including a really nice top I didn't buy because I'm not going to spend 250$ to look like a JoJo character. Instead I bought a swirly-print peacock blue/green empire waist baby doll dress at Zara for 50$. XD At one point [livejournal.com profile] angrybabble and I had a gmail chat re: the merits and demerits of empire waist dresses (we were rooting through style.com for visual references w/r/t what various JoJo characters would wear): I was generally for, she was generally against. This is definitely the kind that makes everyone look a bit pregnant, but it's visually stunning from afar so I like it.

Other purchases:

* Second Zara dress, in a black and white print. Cut-wise it's an exact clone of the little yellow-green plaid sundress I wear to death in the summer - I mean exactly.

* Two pairs of flats, because I wore out my sandals from last summer. Metallic silver with sun-moon-star cutouts (♥), and fire engine red patent leather (!). I've actually been wearing black leather flats at work for the past several months, because they go well with the cigarette-leg trousers I bought in a fit of optimism after losing weight in China (this is one of those "God and/or the fashion industry hates you" clothing items: they make you look tall and skinny, but only if you're taller than 5'5" and have a bmi of 22 or less). They belonged to my mother and are probably about as old as I am. XD;

* swivelly DJ-style earphones. Sony, not noise-cancelling, but far better than the crappy earbuds I'm used to. XD It's like when you get a new prescription for your glasses and everything suddenly comes into focus.

* a splitter that allows two sets of earphones to be plugged in at once. I'VE ONLY BEEN MEANING TO GET THIS RIDICULOUS DOOHICKEY FOR THREE YEARS NOW.

* a 2GB data key. SEE ABOVE.

* a cheap Panasonic portable mp3 CD player. We had up to three in our household, now we're down to one and playback's sort of iffy.

* Shadow of the Colossus. Mostly for sororial unit, since she has actual hand-eye coordination and stuff.

So now I have no money, but mostly this was necessary stuff I'd put off buying.
