Falbalas et fanfreluches
Mar. 15th, 2007 10:58 pmFor the past couple of days I've been writing what amounts to a draft proposal for a July SSBB story (some of you might remember the one; I'm still not done). This brought to mind that:
1) For the upcoming summer, I have to find something like a Pucci print babydoll dress. I'm going to go ahead and blame Araki Hirohiko for this one.
2) If Hedi Slimane didn't exist, sororial unit and I would've had to invent him.
One aspect of "Senza Fine" that I barely even wrote into the actual story is that the characters show up in different outfits. Mista actually is wearing Hedi Slimane for Dior Homme in part VII. This would've been bleeding-edge when the story was set, but Trish was the one who was supposed to have picked it out, and anyhow all of Trish's are anachronistic (agnès b. Fall 2006 in part III, Emilio Pucci Spring 2007 in part V, with Ferragamo handbag). Rohan... I really ought to stop while I'm still ahead. XD; Though whatevs, I'm sure Araki spends way more time than I do looking at runway photography. I don't actually fashion-surf a lot, my modus operandi is more that I independently develop an urge to wear some specific item or colour that's almost on the order of a food craving, and then ransack the shops until I find it. Though it's probably not so much independent as picking up subconscious cues from surroundings (street fashion, window displays, etc. but could just as well be manga or George Barbier prints - at one point I was hugely infatuated with Barbier's work). These attacks of neophilia can be troublesome.
I've been trying to make time to read the most recent SBR chapters for weeks but unsuccessfully thus far. Um... I should get on that.
