...a Mage Masher between the shoulder blades will seriously cramp his style.

BHUJERBAN GURU: What I'm saying is, there's no such thing as a casual Madhu drinker. It doesn't exist. You're either on it, or you haven't tried it. ...Want a sip?
STREET KID: No, bitch, I want my 1,000 gil.

These are not my goods I'm reselling. Is it okay to buy grimoires with the proceeds of crime? I FEEL SO HARDCORE.

You guys, I can't believe the GetBackers manga is ending! I feel like we ought to do something. XD; It's the one fandom I haven't really wandered away from in the past four years, though the extent of my participation these days is reading each tankoubon as it comes out and flailing. I downloaded the latest chapter and... it's pretty flail-worthy, yeah.

I'm still reading through the SSBB submissions, but have some music in the meantime:

Emiliana Torrini - If You Go Away (Ne me quitte pas): the original French is possibly the saddest song in existence, and Emiliana Torrini takes a good stab at it. I remember my best friend in high school saying, "Anyone who can write lyrics like this is getting laid," which I agree with in principle - except no one would ever say things like this to another person if they had a chance. You just don't. You're only this desperate when it's already over.

Cat Power and Karen Elson - I Love You (Je t'aime... moi non plus): what it sez. This is a mini-theme. XD

José González - Crosses (Jori Hulkkonen Mix)
José González - Crosses (Superbass Mix)

Have been listening to José González which reminded me I never posted the "Crosses" half of the Crosses/Heartbeats 12". *g* I don't even perceive this sort of remix as being in a separate genre from the original anymore, just... longer. The Jori Hulkkonen is more percussive, the Superbass is lovely Balearic house. (Earlier today I thought, if there's such an appellation as 'piano house', why isn't there 'acoustic guitar house'? Then I realized that's what's meant by 'Balearic' 75% of the time, innit.)

I will have comments to make re: FMA. Eventually. XD

J'AIME 'NE ME QUITTE PAS' :DDDDDDD i think i have like 3485783475 versions of it....

i tend to think of GB like an old boyfriend that i was quite passionate about but with whom the relationship tapered off XDDDD we didnt end on bad terms, we just... drifted apart. i think i stopped reading around the time i moved to japan because i only had enough of an attention span to follow monthly comics rather than the weeklies. i cant believe its finally ending, though; from what ive been hearing i think sensei-tachi have been hitting the acid before sitting down to hash out the last plot details XDDDDDD

^^d

Yeah, the fandom drift... I think by this point GB is like the friend-with-benefit that's a good drinking party and stress-free hookup every time he's back in town? For me anyway. XD

They're determined to tie up all the loose ends in the plot! It's kind of fascinating to watch.

Vaan: *eyes Canopic Jar* We paid a quarter of a million gil for this?

Balthier: Waste of money, if you ask me.

Penelo: Guys? With that jar, we get more Souls of Thamasa that are great for selling. We'll make a profit eventually.

No matter how subtle the wizard...
...a Mage Masher between the shoulder blades will seriously cramp his style.

That *supposed* to be a vague reference to

"...What if a wizard was sent to kill him?"
"Well, as to that," Desmond replied, drawing his longsword, "wizards die the same as other men, once you cut their heads off."

...or am I just drawing connections between completely unrelated things as usual?

IIRC, it's Dragaera. "No matter how subtle the wizard, a knife between the shoulder blades will seriously cramp his style."

Haha, the series that I'm following that actually seem to be ending anytime soon are getting rarer these days. Savor the end, if it works out well.

I'm not sure I've ever followed a manga until it ended to my satisfaction. XD Either it was finished before I started reading, or I lost interest in the serialization halfway, or the ending sucked/it went on indefinite hiatus/it's still not done. GetBackers might be the first.

If TRC and Holic wrap up without killing off the entire cast they'll be second and third (Nana is off a ways, I think, and Bleach is nowhere near).

Heh, so you weren't following Kenshin when it ended? I tend to really prefer it being finished before I start, these days. Short attention span and all.

What, you seriously think CLAMP is going to kill off the cast in TRC or Holic? There's just not that much of a cast to kill in Holic. I don't know about Nana, though. It seems to be nearing some kind of climax.

What I love about FF12 is that Vahn's a total street punk and both Fran and Balthier have the cutest butts when you're moving around the world map, doing banditry because the Technik Shops all over say you're LICENSED to steal. X3

Oh gawd, they all move like supermodels. XD Sometimes I zoom in and slow... them... down... to a walk, just for the hell of it.

There's no making money in this game if you don't steal. orz

Thanks for the Jose Gonzalez! I don't actually have anything by him but Crosses (I randomly downloaded it ages ago) but it's one of my favourite songs, and I always love having remixes of those. Thanks ^_^

You're presently playing FFXII? Wonderful! *grin* I'd be getting along farther in it were it not for the fact that the battle system drives me crazy (I'm used to real-time hack-and-slash, and not this turn-based... frustration).

From: [identity profile] petronia.livejournal.com
How far along are you? It's super-frustrating when you only have Vaan, you keep wanting him to just whack the thing in front of him when you press X. XD It works lovely once you have the full complement with gambits, though, and in action mode it pretty much is real-time.

Inching along very very slowly, and perhaps 0.5% into the game, as we're just going into the mines to rescue Penelo and Larsa still isn't telling us his real name. *wry smile* I'm not used to turn-based games, but the graphics on this one are worth everything. ;) But with gambits and all it's real-time? ;) That's a relief! *grin*
