Apologies for the lack of radio activity
Nov. 8th, 2006 08:55 pmI have been spamming carnet with disjointed one-liners but while I can scrounge up 500 words of fiction every other day (a necessity from now until Christmas if I'm to keep up my fandom engagements) it appears I can't scrounge up that and a coherent blog entry. Or something. >_> I'll do my best to cough up China posts on the off-days, though, since that's the only topic of interest I have to talk about at the moment anyway.
The Jojo post-part 5 fic o' doom is halfway done. I can say this with some degree of confidence, I've rarely written anything where the structure was so transparently symmetrical. XD But then it's very unlike me tosuccessfully produce 12,000-word fics according to a bullet-point outline. Here's hoping the trend continues. (I don't think all the Jojo fans are on the ficspam LJ, in fact, but you may as well wait for the whole shebang to be posted here rather than follow the draft as it dribbles out chunk by unedited chunk ahahaha. ...How's the scanlation going by the way?)
I've come to the decision that December will be the last "cover story" I do for SSBB. Erin, you're welcome to take up the torch if you feel like it but if not artists and writers will have to submit a joint proposal, that's all, it's been done three times already this year and it's not as if the submission pool lacks past successes to make eyes at. *makes eyes at some of you* Basically, there are at least two stories I want to write that I haven't found time to write, and never will have time to write if I have to obey my own deadlines twice over. So.
(Said stories would go under the GEIKO pseud. Conveniently, as well as not being "cover" it means they're not "genre".)
P.S. I'm reading 20th Century Boys from the National Library (hardly a manga café selection-wise, but very well-stocked in Urasawa Naoki - I think they have Monster in triplicate XD). At the end of volume 3, will pick up more after work. SPOIL ME AND DIE.
The funny thing about Urasawa is I don't believe, at all, that he has the plots of his series planned out in advance. I think he follows his nose. It's just that he's to nose-following what Descartes was to straight-edge and compass. I kept trying to think what the storytelling reminded me of and realised it was Nana. XD; Both series teach us that WITHOUT GLAM ROCK, THERE IS NO LIFE. *insert clever Roxy Music segue*
