- Lisa Stansfield, Affection
- Feist, Let It Die
- Lisa Ono, Rio Bossa, Amigos and Romance Latino vol.2
- a hilariously pirated 2CD compilation of 'romantic' French pop songs (of the type where the lyrics booklet was copy-pasted from the Internet by someone who didn't speak a word of the language in question and wasn't paid enough to delete the HTML tags either)
- about eight albums worth of Teresa Teng, scrambled
You get the idea.
Being resident in the Francophonie I knew any number of Patricia Kaas songs before I knew Patricia Kaas - my first real impression of her as an artistic entity was actually that film she did with Jeremy Irons, in which she plays a jazz singer and he plays a gentleman jewel thief, in Morocco. It was an oddly frustrating piece of work that felt like the half-assed adaptation of a novel by the likes of Jostein Gaarder, one that hopelessly obscured the structure of the original through literal reading (although AFAIK it was nothing of the sort), but worth a watch given the chance. I mean, the casting ahahaha.
